I have said it myself, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!" How true this statement is for me. This is my newly dedicated devotation to myself.

Life has a way of taking over. I am a parent on a beautiful 10YO Autistic son. What a challenge! If I am not cleaning up behind him, I am tending to my severely backed up personal life and things to do list. If I am not helping him with his homework or just life lessons, I am trying to catch some much needed sleep. So, with the grace of God and some meditation, I learned that I COME FIRST. I need some time for myself - just a little each day- to refocus on being the best person I can be for myself, my son, my family and my friends. With this focus, came a feeling of self-accomplishment and the ability to create balance in my life.

So I took a day out of my life and made a plan for the new "me".

First, I purchased alot of little stuff- plastic containers, a digital scale for food, hair bands, a more accurate scale (for body weighing), an Omron (digital fat analyzer) little circular stickers, a lunch bag, a digital camera, and a tripod.

Second, I grabbed a schedule from my gym. I asked at the front desk for a complete floor plan displaying all of their machines and what body part each machine worked. Then I came home and made an eight week workout schedule for classes and the machines. This is what I call my NO EXCUSE WORKOUT PLAN. I know exactly where I need to be at what time of day to meet my schedule criteria. I work out for (3) days, Rest, and then workout for the next (3) days and rest again. I do the machines every other day.

Third, is 80% of what I do and that is plan my menu. I plan a menu including my meats, protein shakes, fruits and veggies. I also plan the time of day so that I eat with purpose and not when I get hungry. In addition, I purchased a small timer to go off every (30) minutes to remind myself to drink water until I get my intake of eight glasses.

Operation NEW ME is on it's way!

With this new schedule, I feel that I have added an extra day to my week. I use my rest days to run errands, grocery shop, clean, knock some things off from my to do list and portion out my food. On my rest day, I portion out enough for four days. This allows me to have more time to myself and for my son without the feeling of "never getting anything accomplished". This has lighten my mood and has boosted my self-esteem. By planning my schedule day in and day out, I never feel overwhelmed or stressed anymore and this will be the new path for Operation NEW ME!

What I also learned from this taking time out for myself is to have a "shutdown time"; almost like work. We work sometimes 8 hours, from 9 to 5 and at 5:01, we have one foot out of the office. I need that for at home. So, at 9:01pm, every night, I completely shut down. I don't do dishes, fold clothes, laundry, sweep or anything else. I head to my bedroom and either sit down to read or watch something on television. I get ready for bed and to start my day all over again.

I realized how important it is to sleep for a good 8 hours. I get more accomplished daily and even though my house may not be "company ready" when I retire, I have more energy the next day to get things done in a more timely matter. And because of that, I start each day refreshed and renewed, I exercise more frequently, I consolidated my life and its errands, I have more energy and I get more things done.

Hooray to the NEW ME!

Thanks for stopping by and good luck on your fitness endeavors!!!

Hey how was your 4th of July? Thanks again for recommending the whey protein. I got the vanilla Optimum Nutrition one, and it's really helping me get my daily protein up. I can already tell I'm not craving sugar as much.

Thank you for the helpful info! If i don't eat something before i workout i feel sick, so i drink water, eat an egg, tuna and a small bowl of cheerios before i go to the gym. I just didn't know how much food should i eat, or if i should eat more since i want to do cardio and strength training in the same day now. emoticon

Hey Girl! Yes, I actually was working out an empty stomach at first but I felt like I gave more if I ate two hours before, because I would focus on what I ate and try to burn all those calories plus some. I'm fine right now but please keep checking on me k Thanks girl! emoticon
