Hi,
I'm turning 60 in 2018 & have been on/off a healthy lifestyle for years...I know that changing habits is key, so I'm looking forward to using the tools that Spark offers & meeting others like me-on their way to being more fit & healthy for the long term!

Fitness Minutes: 5,792

My Goals:
Specific Short Term Goals

I will use Spark to log foods/exercise daily
My long term goal is to lose at least 100# in the next year by Jan. 1 (290 to 190)
Weekly goal: 2#/week with losing a pant size or 20# by March 1
I'll begin an exercise program of 3 days/week for 30 minutes by walking, riding a bike & light weights for the first month
I'll stay within 200 calories of my goal each day (Setting initial calorie goal at 2000-will drop 100 calories each month until at 1600)
I'll aim for a calorie deficit of at least 1000 calories/day-calories in/calories out
I'll connect with at least one member each week
I'll measure/post non-scale measurements of my progress each month/weigh weekly

Here's my 10% approach

10% loss of lbs.: 30-Date met....
10% loss off inches-waist, hips, chest: 15-Date met...
10% fewer calories eaten: 200 down from 2000: Date met...
10% MORE exercise: 0 minutes/day to 10 minutes per day: Date met....
10% higher energy level: from a 4/10:

My Program:
The program I'm intending to use is just logging/tracking food & exercise & being consistent with this-no excuses & keeping my goals in mind while using the resources in Spark to kick start my efforts & keep me going

Personal Information:
I'm a mom of two grown children, have two grandchildren & one on the way & am SO ready to retire from my profession of teaching & begin a new chapter of my life...married for nearly 35 years & love to travel, read, find treasures at auctions, etc.

Other Information:
I've had a lifelong struggle with emotional eating, so I know this is going to take some time-whenever I've made progress in the past, it's because I've been/stayed motivated & have had a support base-right now, I have no support base & am just tired of being tired. I want to improve my overall healthy & energy level as well as fit into my various sizes of clothes I've accumulated!

Checking in on a Spark friend here...
Hope that the summer season brings much rest, recuperation, and vigor for living a healthy happy life one step at a time!
Even being retired now, life stressors manifest in a few extra pounds but this month of May instead of school stress I dropped the few pounds I wanted to for upcoming summer Vaca! Dr. Judith Beck calls this "cycles of maintainance!" I use that one a lot! My old yo-yo of 30-60 lbs turned to a see-saw of 5-15 lbs and now a balance scale of 5-7...maybe one day I shall arrive! Lol That's lots of laughs and lots of love. Spark on!

Thank you friend, for your sincere comments on my blog about Memorial Day. I really appreciate it. It felt good to get all that out of my head this weekend!

On another note, are you going to sign up for Challenge #15? Hope so!

    Thanks again,
    Your friend, Karen
