Hello All! My name is Jen and I am a full time student. I plan on going to Medical School when I graduate to become an anesthesiologist.

I have always been taller than most kids (I am 6 feet) however, I have never been the lanky girl. I have always had meat on my bones to say the least and was seen as "perfect". I just let myself go! In between the prednisone and being an emotional eater I have gained alot of weight. I never really had any friends so my mother would treat me to dinner and ice cream to make me feel better about myself. I used food as a source of comfort. Fun to me was going out to eat and ordering something major.

I remember when I wore a size 9. I told myself that I would NEVER get bigger than a 10. Now look at me. I am a size 16 and very uncomfortable. I can't stand it! The highest weight that I have gotten is 208. I absolutely felt disgusting. Something clicked though, I need to lose weight and change my lifestyle.

I became a vegetarian 2 years ago, shifting between vegan and vegetarian. I substituted my meat for junk food. Bad Idea! Instead of eating a piece of steak I would eat a whole cake. I know a steak is healthier than cake, however, I didn't think of it that way. By the time I realized it, I was over 200 pounds.

My goal is to become a healthier vegetarian. Live a healthier life. Have a stronger relationship with God. Love Jen wholeheartedly.

I will never forget in the 7th grade, I over heard one of my teachers talking to another teacher. He said that he knows that I am going to be a model when I get older. He said I was so pretty and tall and sweet. Ever since then, I know that it is destined to happen. I know that I will never be like Top Model or anything like that (I don't want to be), however, I would like to gain my confidence and start modeling because I love to take pictures and I love fashion. I have never pursued my "side dream" because I didn't have confidence and now I am too big. I would really like to lose the weight so that I can do it as a hobby.

I want to get down to at least size 9. I know that is not small but it is for my height. I really just want to have a healthy (comfortable) BMI and feel and look great!

I believe that I will do it by sticking to the following plan:
I am to consume no more than 1500 calories a day.
I am to drink at least 2 liters of water each day.
I am to exercise at least 6 times a week for no less than 45 minutes.
I am to run at least 8 miles a week.
I am not to consume sweets, greasy fried food, and soda.
I am to eat at least 2 servings of vegetables and 4 servings of fruit.
I am to weigh myself only once a week.
I am to set "mini" goals for myself.
I am to meditate for 15 minutes every morning.

This is all just for a healthier lifestyle, not just to lose weight!

My Program:
*less than 1500 calories everyday

* No junk food at all

    Hi Jen, when I read that you wanted to go to medical school I was like hey we definitely have something in common! Hopefully you haven't given up on your goal of losing weight and that you come back so we can share our applying for medical school while trying to lose weight experience!

    Jen! Thanks for the blog comments!! Like I said, I'm not going to be getting any calls from the Olympic running team any time soon, but at least I'm making progress!

    I'm bummed because I missed my workout today :( and tomorrow's my weigh-in!! Argh!! Wish me luck...
