Missy's Journey Back
As I endeavor to lose 196 pounds, I know that I MUST trust God above all else, including my own best efforts! I CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
"Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord." Isaiah 31:1

My Goals:
My ultimate goal is to obey God in regard to my body. 1Corinthians 6:19 and 20 say, "Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body."
As for more concrete goals, I hope to get back to the weight I was when I met my wonderful husband Scott. When we met in 1997, I was only 175 pounds, which didn't look bad on my 5'11" frame. Since then, my weight has literally doubled! My top weight was 358 pounds in January of 2008. I had already lost 65 pounds, but have gained back all of it and more! I will plow ahead one success at a time. Thanks to you all for taking this journey with me!
My Program:
I'm really excited about SparkPeople, but the bottom line is the same for all of us; eat less and exercise more. There is no magic formula or miracle cure. Changing a lifetime of bad habits is never easy, but I know that God will give me strenth and courage as I try to obey Him. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6
Try as I might, I can't seem to implement a consistent exercise program, probably because I hate exercise!
Those of you who pray, pray for me. I need it!!!
Personal Information:
I'm a 37 year old mother of three. I have one son, Aaron, who is 17, and two daughters, Arissa (13), and Kennedy (9). I have a wonderful, supportive husband, Scott. I'm very artistic, and love to paint, read, write (hopefully a novel), and go to the movies. My favorite movie is Jane Austin's "Pride and Prejudice"! One of my life goals is to (someday) go on an extended trip to Italy! This is one of my (many) motivations to lose all of the weight. I'm very involved in my church, and give all of the glory for my weight loss success thus far to God! I know I couldn't do it without Him!
Other Information:
"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." 1Corinthians 10:13
Proof that I have a choice! God keeps His promises, and I CAN choose not to eat that second helping, or that dessert, even if everyone else is. I've been given victory already, thanks to Jesus's sacrifice on the cross. I will be strong and courageous!

I love your spark page, and I've enjoyed reading your heartfelt blogs. Love the verses you've chosen.
You sound so much like me!
Just curious, which version of Pride and Prejudice was your favorite?
