I'm Maria and my goal is to lose 40 lbs in 2008. I have 4 dogs, so I will always have a walking/jogging companion. Hoping for success not only to lose the weight but to be healthier overall.

My Goals:
My main goal is to be healthier. Eat better and exercise more. I've decided to concentrate more on the good things that I'm going to eat, rather than fixating on what I can't eat. I see this more as a permanent change in lifestyle, not as a diet that I will stick to only to lose weight.


My Program:
This is my program: Eat 10 servings of fruit and veggies EVERY day. Drink 8-10 glasses of water EVERY day. Severely cut down on the salt. Eat at least 25-35 grams of fiber daily. Eat as little fat and sugar as humanly possible. Completely cut out all meat except fish and shellfish. I don't count calories, I just do the best I can.
I take an hour-long walk 3 times/week, and I try to hit the gym 2-3 times/week.



Personal Information:
My name is Maria, and I live in Northern California. I'm a firefighter, and when I hurt my back at work a few years ago I gained some weight when I couldn't work out like I usually did. I developed some bad eating habits, and here I am, working hard to drop about 40 lbs.


Other Information:
The one thing I love more than anything else is animals, especially dogs. I aspire to be the person my dogs think I am.

Take the time to read through it as questions you have may have been answered on there - and you may find some questions you DIDN't know you had!
