Hello there!
I'm a 50ish or so young lady. I've been on a long journey to finding health. It took a horrible relationship to point me to a clinical psychologist who pointed me to a psychiatrist to discover that probably for over 35 years I've been suffering from Hypothyroidism.
AH HA! So although I've tried just about every diet in the world and had a fitness trainer for years... I'm just now beginning to understand WHY I have been unable to lose weight, or keep it off.
This should change now that I'm on the correct medicines, understand that I'm not a failure - and that focusing in on diet and exercise will actually work now.
I'm really excited about SparkPeople and am looking forward to having a cool online place to track my progress and hopefully meet some other misguided lemmings who don't want to fall off the cliff.

My Goals:
My first and most important goal is to be as healthy as possible.
Secondly is to lose a consistent amount of weight until I am at a healthy weight.
Third - to look better. (hey why not? right?)

My Program:
I'm tracking my food and making conscience decisions about what I eat and why.
I'm tracking and 'making time' to exercise. I'm making sure I do a variety of activities so that exercise is 'fun' and not a chore.

I love all kinds of music; enjoy reading and history.
