There are several reasons that I want to become healthy and fit:

1) I want to see my kids grow up, get married, and have kids of their own

2) I want to have the energy to run and play with my children who have a never ending source of energy

3) My Mom died of colon cancer when she was just 43 and I was 17. I don't want to die of something that is preventable and miss out on all the things she missed out on

4) Diabetes runs in my family and my Dad is insulin dependent. I don't want that.

5) I want to take care of me for a change. My continuing to neglect myself as I have for the last seven years will not help me to take care of my family.

Being able to track my exercise and nutrition is perfect for me. (As an accountant, I am very numbers oriented.) It has given me something visible to help me stay focused and accountable. It has also made me more conscious of what I eat. Nutrition is the hardest part for me because I am a picky eater and I tend to get bored with the foods that I do like. This is slowly improving, as there are a small number of foods that I have added along the way.

My ultimate goal is to get down to about 130 pounds, but if 135 feels and looks right when I get there, then I'll stay around there. I can be happy with that. There's more to me than just a number.
