After many years, I’m back on SparkPeople. I didn’t really give it my all when I last joined, but now my health is really being impacted by my weight, so it’s time to get serious.

I'm looking for support to help keep me on track of my goal to lose 100 lbs. over the next year. "Life" threw me some major curve balls many years ago, and I started to pile on the weight. At the time, I looked at eating as the lesser of many evils to deal with my stress and figured as I’d never had any issues with weight, it’d be easy to lose. Unfortunately, overeating has become a really bad habit that's been incredibly difficult to break. As the weight crept on, it became harder to exercise, and now I’m pretty much sedentary as walking any lengthy distance is painful.

I've lost a lot of the weight a couple of times, but it's always crept back on, plus a little more each time. I'm tired of being tired and achy, and long to fit into "fitted" clothes again.

It's really time to do something about my weight as it's seriously affecting my health. I've developed sleep apnea, osteoarthritis in my feet and knees, metabolic syndrome, and high blood pressure. I had a total knee replacement 6 months ago, and the other one is heading that way, too. I’m struggling with post-op swelling and stiffness six months out, and I’m sure it’s because of my weight.

I need to get all of these health issues under control and all of them are caused by my weight, so that means the weight's gotta go!

I'd love to hear from anyone needing support who’s in or has been in the same position as me, and anyone who has advice/support to give.

My Goals:
Want to lose 80-100 lbs. over the next year. This time, I want to lose the weight sensibly, and keep it off!

My Program:
I'll be stocking the fridge and cupboard with healthy foods and snacks. I need to cut down on carbs (my weakness) and cut out processed food. My exercise options are limited due to my knee difficulties, but once I figure out what I can do for exercise, I'll incorporate that. Drinking lots of water is always a tough one for me, but I'm planning on taking lots of water to work with me and drinking it!
