Introduction Text May 12, 2020. Here I am again. Back up to 201 from my recent (in the past 5 years lower weight) of 185. I had started at 211 my highest weight with the aim of getting to 150. I felt so much better once I reached the 180's that I basically stopped. Kept it pretty much off for 5 years and then being home with covid and little movement and tons of eating I've watched the weight pile on in no time. Sugar is the culprit for me. Probably an addiction. I feel a real rush when I eat desserts and after I do I want to eat every couple hours-more and more carbs. Also an emotional eater-if i'm happy I want to eat, if I'm sad I want to eat, if I'm stressed I want to heat. Ha ha. I guess I really like food. I know all of this but need to track my food in take daily and be active. So here we go again. I'm turning 65 in July maybe I can make a dent in my weight and fitness by then. xo to all. July 1 2017 Happy Canada Day--Back on track. Still down 20lb and looking to loose another 20 to get out of the obese category. I'm walking between 10,000 and 16,000 steps each day and trying to get onto the elliptical trainer 3x's a week for cardio. My arms are not strong so will try and do some light weights. Seems to stiffen up my neck when I do this so I think I am not isolating my arm muscles. Hmmmm. Working on my balance and taking care of my left ankle and knee. No jogging for me for a while after tearing some ligaments in my ankle. Since Feb I've been enjoying Pilattes for the first time in my life. Our pup Lucy who is 14 months old and 50lbs of puppy energy enjoys her walks with us. Its a bit too hot for her these days but soon we will cut off her gorgeous curls because of the heat. Meanwhile i spray her down when we leave the dog park to cool her off. What else is new? I'm turning 62 this month. Still really liking my work and not planning to retire any time soon. We look forward to when our kids who are now adults come and visit-they have grown up and are wonderful human beings. We are so proud of them. We have our 43 wedding anniversary this month. Where has the time gone? I'm eating healthier and have increased protein, decreased carbs and fats and am hoping to loose another 20 lbs. The last 20 was lost 3-4 years ago and I pretty much maintained it. Time to continue this journey. I should be 150 lbs (at the most) at my age and height-40 more lbs to go but my eye is on 5 lbs at a time with a goal of 20 lbs by Xmas. It seem to stay off more easily if I take my time loosing it and try and maintain the new habits. That is the tough part-maintaining the new habits when food is so central to our social lives. But last night I had 8 of our long time friends over for dinner and I did not serve white bread or dessert. Dessert was cherries, clementine and some squares of 72% dark chocolate. No one missed the dessert except my husband who loves desserts every day and is fit as a fiddle. OK-its me again. I'm now 61 years old. Need to work on my lifestyle change as it is slipping. I woke up today feeling determined to finish the weight loss and be more consistent with my lifestyle changes. I'm feeling heavy and sluggish. I've gained 5 out of the 20 lbs I'd lost 3 years ago back and this plus another 40 lbs have got to go. When I lost the 20 lbs 3 years ago and got into onederland as the sparkers call it-I felt so much better and stopped there. I told myself that I was going to just maintain it for a while and then continue. Well... I never continued! Think of how much better I will feel with another 20 and then the final 20!. So the turtle has returned. I'm aiming for 7 lbs by the end of sept 2016-its now Aug 7 2016. I'm not happy with myself when I binge eat and live like a coach potato. I'm always happier when I'm leading a healthy life style. Hard to understand why I always let it slip. A lifetime of doing this over and over. Well I understand that there is always stress around and using food as a crutch to sooth is not helpful mentally or physically. So time for the big change-slowly but surely. I've written this down here so I can remember that I am doing it. Go me go! Wow-I'm now 60 years old and have been on sparks people for more than 3 years. I've made some good life style changes in these past 3 years. I walk to and from work most days (a 70 minute walk), I run 5km once a week and I eat more healthy food. I still sometimes revert to old habits especially during stressful times. The good thing is that I am able to pick myself up and return to sparks within a week or so. I weight 20 lbs less than my highest weight. I have been able to maintain it. I still have another 40 lbs to go. Main thing is that I feel better about myself. I'm working on healthy eating, being more active and improving my balance by standing on one foot :) I'm 57 years old (hard to believe), 5'5" (I seem to have shrunk :) and at my near highest weight 200lbs (oh no!). I have been on and off SparksPeople since 2010-lost 10 lbs, got fit, felt better and then drifted away from Sparks. My weight has gone up and downs since I was 15. Used to be over by 20lbs or so overweight but now I am obese needing to loose more than 50 lbs. I have a good life- 2 great kids, a husband of 37 years, a job I love and yet I still find myself overeating for comfort. I take care of everyone else I love. I put my fitness and proper eating way way down on my to do list. I put off starting to care about myself and often feel defeated when I slip once I start. On the other hand, once I start to look after myself I feel very happy and proud of myself. I have been at my idea weight and fitness several times in my life but over 3 years or so the weight always slowly slips back and the fitness slips away. This is because I go back to my old habits. It takes me a month or so once I stop working out to notice the loss in fitness. This time delay isn't great because I feel fine being a slug for a while. What else--everyone in my family is encouraging me to be fit and healthy and in my weight range and they do this in a positive way but I still find it hard to start and especially to stick with it. A voice in my head always says--do it later-there is something more important you need to do. My health is pretty good but knees hurt going up and down stairs. I don't like sitting on airplanes taking up the entire seat and have noticed that the stalls in public washrooms and the chairs I used to sit on seem smaller? I don't feel that I am that much larger but I must be. I have an apple body and most of my extra weight is in the middle area. I wear baggy cloths to cover this up but when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror I think to myself -who is that more than middle age older heavy woman? Funny how my inside doesn't match my outside. So for the past 4 days I have eaten properly and worked out. I just got my first Sparks trophy by email for 250 fitness minutes. I really liked receiving it.

Get to a healthy weight (loose 1 lb per week) and do something to become and stay fit everyday. Change habits-seriously reduce overeating, emotional eating, social eating. Reduce late night eating. Stop negative self-talk. Lots to do :) Sept 29 2014 16 lbs down August 15 2015 20 lbs down January 4 2015 21 lbs down and counting!

Track food on SparksPeople. Walk back and forth to work 2-3 days per week (35 minutes each way). Work out other days-eliptical trainer 30-40 minutes. Do 100 crunches eat night before I go to sleep. Enjoy feeling healthier.

March 2017. Greetings Sparks Friends. Here I am again. I'm trying to preserve the 20lbs I lost 3.5 years ago and move on to the last 40-50 lbs. My first goal is to get into the overweight category which is about 16 lbs away. I've been back on sparks for 2 weeks now. Logging my food each day and reading and interacting with the Sparks community. I continue to walk a lot. I can't run because my ankle is a problem but it is being rehabbed by a physio. I'm working on learning how to walk more smoothly so that I put less pressure on my joints and improve my balance. Pilattes is also helping with this. I"m pleased wearing the size 14 plus size pants I bought yesterday and starting to feel more comfortable in my own skin again. Avoiding sugar and eating healthy food throughout the day prevents late night binges. 1 lb a week or less is fine with me as being a turtle is what helped me loose the first 20 lbs on Sparks in 2013. I want to get back back to that weight which is about 6 lbs away and
