Generally I hate talking about myself but since this is MY TIME and my page, I suppose that I can let myself off the hook for it just this once, right?!?!?

I am a mother of 4 (18 y.o down to 7 y.o) and a wife of 1 (going on 13 years). I work full time as a cashier at a busy supermarket. I am 35. Graduated community college with an AA in English last year and am trying to decide if I want to return for my BA in Literature with my teaching certification or a Business degree. I live in Northern Illinois in a Western suburb of Chicago. My name is Melinda and I am overweight.....*slight pause for the audience to jointly say "Welcome Melinda".*

Yes humor is a huge part of who I am. So is being overweight right now. I used to be very active in school and then I became a teenage mom and then another baby came and then another and so on and then happened. Slowly I would gain a couple of pounds a year and then I would lose maybe a pound or two. Then I quit smoking and had elective cosmetic surgery (yes that means what you think it means) and wham there came another 50 pounds!!!! Now they are here to stay like Kool-aid on white carpet.

Well I am not having it! I am 5'7" and a healthy weight for me is between 135 and 150 (ish) pounds according to my doctor so I am striving to hit that range. I have my goals in place and a plan set up. Now I just need to be able to follow through on what I say and think.

I also need to really practice chanting "SWEAT WILL NOT KILL YOU!" as I HATE sweating!

My Goals:
My weight loss goal is to lose a grand total of 77 pounds. I started off at 212# around 01/01/2014 and have been bouncing around between there and 200# ever since. Currently (04/09/2014) I am at 199#. Only 64 more pounds to go!!!!! I would love to hit my goal by the end of the year (12/31/14). I feel like that is very reachable.

Another goal that I am working on is to exercise more out of habit and fun rather than having it feel like a chore and something that I dread doing.

My Program:
I would like to tell myself that I am working out with any sort of regularity but I would then be lying to myself. I "attempt" to work out every day but it rarely (if ever) happens.

Stress and depression trigger weigh gain for me so I am more focused on healthy eating habits and learning how to live a happy, more active lifestyle without focusing on diet and exercise.

Personal Information:
I have always had huge dreams in my head of how I wanted to look and feel if I could just get the motivation, drive and determination to do something about it.

Well I have decided that I am the only one that can make it happen an so I am done playing games. Today is the first day of the rest of my life!

Other Information:
I am a very avid reader. I can't seem to have too many books. My Nook is almost filled to capacity and so is my bedroom library. I also am addicted to movies. I love being transported to different times and places and I feel like books and movies are able to do that for me.

I dream of travel but so far have gone nowhere. I have such a long list of places that I want to see that I had to create two separate bucket lists - a normal one and a travel one!
