Mother of the Bride
Well, we made it through the wedding and it was spectacular. My daughter and her new husband couldn't stop smiling so I know they are destined for a long and happy life together.
I have been smoke free for over 1.5 years so that part of my life is in the healthy zone, but I'm struggling to get my exercise and water back on track. I'm still recovering from foot surgery so it's taking a bit longer than I would like. But I'm getting there!

I've decided to keep my current ID. I'll always be the MOB so I'll just leave it alone. Less confusing!
Yep, I'm a breast cancer survivor, hence the tattoos. I have to figure out what to get for my 15 year survival mark....in only 1 year!
The past 2 years on Spark People has been an eye-opening experience. I've added a lot of information in my pathetic brain, learned lots of new recipes, and acquired so many very dear friends whom I'll probably never meet, but love just the same. Thank you all for a good year.
So here I am. I love to cook and since DH decided to have a massive heart attack last year, I'm relearning this. I'm limiting salt in addition to the fats, carbs, cholesterol, etc. that we HAD been monitoring. But I'm finding lots of new recipes and had a good excuse to restock all of my herbs and spices! I love to garden, I love to read. Despite a few hard knocks in my life, I'm a happy person. But I also recognize that I need support and SP has provided that missing component. So wish me luck as I continue on my journey and I'll do the same for you!
New Goals and Challenges for 2010:
Take stairs UP at least once a day and ALWAYS take them down!
QUIT SNACKING, DARN IT! (My weakest area!)
Exercise AT LEAST 4X/week (I've been getting a bit sloppy about this and for all of my good intentions, I DON'T use my exercise DVDs!)
Get rid of the 25lbs that snuck back on when I was immobile. Foot surgery set me back and it didn't take long to forget all my good intentions! Much easier to ask hubby to pick up fast food than try to navigate the kitchen on a crutch. But I've gotten the "go-ahead" from my doctor to ease back into exercising GENTLY and I've got my nutrition back on track.
Watch my food intake EVERY day and log it in the nutrition tracker. Within the same goal, discover a lot of new, healthy recipes to spring on poor hubby.
There! That should carry me through the end of the year!

My Goals:
Long term goal: I want to wear a sleek, fitted SEXY dress at my daughter's wedding. No beaded "boxes" for me!
GOAL ACCOMPLISHED!
Now to find a new goal.....suggestions welcome.
Short term goal: down to 140 lbs by end of June 2010 (or sooner!)
My Program:
I've joined a gym and hired a personal trainer. I'm working with a nutritionist, but I'm getting more and better information from this site!
Update: My gym was yet another victim of the economic downturn and I'm having to rely on videos, my treadmill, and SP exercises for now. When I'm fully healed, I'll look for a new gym.
Update: Finished with my trainer, accomplished my first half marathon, and am now working on C25K as my next goal!
Personal Information:
I live in a small town south of Nashville, TN and work in cancer research. I've had 5 children and have 2 gorgeous grandchildren. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1995.
Update: Have another granddaughter!
Other Information:
I've let myself get sloppy and slack after my initial "thank God" reaction to reaching my 10 year survivor mark. Now I'm back on track, thanks to a lot of local support and this site! This December will be my 15 year cancer-free anniversary!
