While I may be dormant socially on SP sometimes, I keep coming back because even a distant connection keeps my head above water in this ongoing struggle!!

I'm searching for balance and acceptance in myself more than I'm searching for big weight loss. I haven't quite figured out how to balance and maintain weightloss. I lose, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot, then I gain it back. And boy can I gain weight easily! I swear I can gain 5 lbs just by LOOKING at the food.

I want to be strong, healthy, and happy. I want to get out of my comfort zone, (which usually involves food!) and actually live life, not just watch it go by.

I love the support that SP gives me!

These are my goals:

Think Positively
Exercise Daily
Eat Healthy
Work Hard
Stay Strong
Worry Less

My Goals:
Twice in my life I have lost a significant amount of weight - 90 lbs both times. Once when I was in my mid 20's and again when I was in the latter half of my 30s. Both times were from counting calories, relatively low fat and exercising. But each time I gained the weight back to about where I started and added on 5 more for good measure - though I do seem to stay in this same range other than that. So evidently what I've done in the past is not something that can sustain me in long term weight loss, so this time around I am trying intermittent fasting and a whole foods, lower carb (but not keto) approach. I read The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung and it has really made me reconsider and take a new approach. While I'm not diabetic (nor appear to be headed that way, at least according to tests), I am convinced that the hormones like insulin, leptin and ghrelin are having a significant effect on me.

My Program:
WW - green
I will be re-incorporating intermittent fasting but will be building up to that.
Lots of whole foods, good fats, veggies and fruit, lean meats and minimal snacking.

BUT - nothing is off limits. I can't do anything that eliminates a food group or a food specifically as I have found that this is not a sustainable approach for me and creates feelings of missing out, resentfulness and ultimately ends in me bingeing in defiance.

Making good choices. Eating to satisfy, not to stuff.

Incorporating exercise.

Cardio - elliptical, swimming, walking, hiking, occasional video

Strength training using plan designed by a trainer utilizing free weights, bosu, exercise ball.

Personal Information:
I live in British Columbia, Canada. I'm single, work full time and have my fur babies, Bonnie and Clawd

I'm 44 yrs old and I'm a little over 5'9" tall (I tell you this just cause when I see pictures of people at certain weights everyone is so different and I always wonder - how tall are they!!?? So now you know how tall I am. :)

Woo Hoo--thanks to you, I did it!!!!! I did 30 minutes of C25K (run 1 min at 5 mph, walk 4 minutes at 3 mph) and I thought I'd die but I DID IT!!! Thank you new friend, I wouldn't have done it if we hadn't talked today =)

Now I have 2 really happy goals: become a half hour runner and be able to do some pull-ups =)

Thank you for adding me as a friend--I've added you right back. I started reading your blogs and I really enjoyed them. I really felt inspired and I am going to read them all. Yesterday I had a miserable day but today is a new day and today I can exercise and eat healthy. I'm not even going to worry about the scale because all it does is discourage me. I'm thinking today would be a good day to start running. =)

Maybe you are right. I felt so hopeful THEN and today so much like I will NEVER be thin or healthy. But I am still off to the gym anyway today because I'm kind of excited about being able to do a pull-up ie. the epic quest for the elusive Sarah Conners pull-ups...I'm using the assisted pull up machine and have it set on 205, so its lifting 205 of my weight, and I'm actually doing a pullup with 41 lbs =)

The only bad thing is, the next weight increment is 15 lbs less, so either I have to be able to make a 37% increase in the weight I'm lifting for my pullups, or I need to lose some weight before I move up to the next increment.

But wouldn't it be AWESOME to be able to do pullups!! There are a LOT of men who can't do even one. =)
