My weight has been an issue over the last ten+ years. I gained a lot of weight in 1998 while going through some difficult life stuff. I was packing on the pounds faster than I could see it - about 50 pounds in 6 months.

I have been up and down with my weight since then, with the biggest drop being down about 30 pounds in 2007 after joining weight watchers in February of that year and working hard at that for about 5 months. But I didn't keep at the changes weight watchers had taught, and lacked the motivation to continue to participate. My portions grew again, and when I had a bad day I would just get the 'f' it's and gorge myself with a bag of chips and dip, or some other high fat vise. So I gained back all that weight plus an extra ten pounds. I stress eat - and had some issues going on at home that fed right into that - so before I new it the weight was all back on, the new clothes I had bought were packed away and the 'fat chick' pants were back in my closet again.

In January of 2009 I was at the heaviest in my life - about 207 pounds. I had fought for years to keep the scale under 200 and it had finally toppled it. I knew I needed to do something, and just started trying to eat less a day at a time. In the past year I've made some major changes in my life that have effected my lifestyle and make it easier to lose weight. Not so much eating out all the time, more walking, more activity, less big meals. I also have had a few health issues that have aided in my weight loss. I have dropped exactly 41 pounds to date, but don't trust that the weight will stay off unless I get more serious about a lifestyle change. I know how quick I gained it back during 2008 after the loss in 2007 and really want to be sure that doesn't happen again.

It feels good to be back to the same clothing size I was in 1998. I would still like to take off another 20 pounds, but more than that I want to become more physically fit and get in better shape. I've lost weight but have done nothing to build or tone muscle mass. I'm interested in tracking my activities, and finding motivation to get out and exercise more. I want to set an example of a healthy lifestyle for my twelve year old daughter, so that she can grow up knowing the importance of being in good shape physically.

Hello. @ 2 weeks before graduation I was a wreck. I was ready to go! I hope you are planning to go. It was a great moment in my life. When the guys were lined up for the Moto run the DI asked how many got that giddy feeling inside and of course the crowd cheered loudly. Then he said your new Marine is feeling the same way. We all looked at the guys eyes ahead, faces set, no emotion showing...but at that moment I realized that this was a group of basically trained Marines and they were in formation. Anyway, the hugs and smiles came as soon as liberty was on. Great time. Enjoy! emoticon emoticon emoticon
