2018 up date Fall
I have been doing great on SP but had some health problem this summer (2018) and I just stopped doing the things that work, logging my food, exercising and not participating or connecting with the team. So, I've gained and my clothes aren't fitting. As the 60’s song goes I've got a new attitude. I am ready to lose the weight and reach my goal. I can do this!!!
---------------------------
2017
I joined Spark People Jan. 2017 just to use the tracking tools. However, I didn’t use it. Toward the end of March 2017, I decided to explore SP. Best thing I’ve done in a while. I signed up for the Spring 5% challenge and I was on my way to getting healthier and slimmer. I tend to be an emotional eater and turn to food for comfort, instead of the only One who can give true comfort and strength. 6 yrs ago I had “massive amount of P.E.s (blood clots) in both lower lobes of my lungs” (dr’s words not mine). As I was recovering from them, my weight started to climb and I reached the 190s. I finally got some strength back and my husband & I started walking and was up to 5-6 miles a day and I was about 10# from goal. Then, I had a bad fall and had to have knee and shoulder surgery. I have gone from 169 to 213 I realized this was not going to work, and the extra weight definitely did not help my knee. When I joined SP in Jan 2016, I didn't participate in any of the teams. It was just a place to track my eating/calories. From Jan. to Apr. 1, I lost 10# so when I joined the 5% Spring Challenge I started at 203. Since I started the 5% challenge, I have lost 27#. In total I've lost 37# But more importantly I have more energy, more active, seldom have to take pain meds for my knee, and my breathing is so much better. On the vanity side, I am enjoying getting back into my clothes and buying some new things. Without SP and the 5% Challenges, laughing at them. I live about 10 miles from downtown Nashville TN.

Personal Information:
We have 3 kitties with 3 different personalities, constantly laughing at them. I live about 10 miles from downtown Nashville TN. One of the few people in my growing city that was born here and never left. I love photography, Disney World, exploring the National Parks, reading and hanging out with good friends. We are retired and have discovered the beauty of the SW. Being a TN girl, we have always stayed in and around the Southern and Eastern States, exploring the revolutionary & civil war trails and battlefields and mountains. What a difference in the west, the beautiful red rocks, the hoo doos of Bryce Canyon, the vastness of the Grand Canyon on and on. We go back every year in late Aug/early Sept. God's creation is so awesome and we are blessed to see His beautiful world
