Hi, I'm a 45 year old woman who lives in Melbourne, Australia. I've been obese most of my life. I've lost hundreds of pounds or kilos as we refer to them here.

I've been off work now since the beginning of August 2010 due to having orthopaedic surgery. I had a number of spurs removed from the back of my heel that were caused by years of achilles tendonitis. I also had my achilles lengthened.

My local doctor recently retired and I had a new patient interview with the new medical practice I was registering with. The nurse weighed me and I topped the scales at 131.5kgs. I was embarrassed.

I have a second surgery scheduled for 13/1/2011 for my other foot to have the same procedures. I want to regain my fitness and lose some weight.

Being so heavy puts so much pressure on my vulnerable feet and not to mention batters my self esteem.

These last two weeks I've started working out at the gym doing cardio and weight training. I hate it but I have to do it.

I've never used the tracking system on here before - tried it for the first time today - it's interesting to see how I'm eating and where the nutritional gaps are.

I'm looking forward to this challenge and seeing how strong I am against my emotional eating. Let the war begin! :)

Thanks for your comment on my blog! I am still surprised at how far I've come. I don't feel like much of a role model most days, especially since lately I've been planning all the food I want to eat when we're in Melbourne next month for the Cup!

thanks for the comment on my blog. ! And yes Angor Wat was so magical and beautiful. AND the Red Piano Bar and massages for $5.00 per hour...... ALL GOOD! I've been to Melbourne too! emoticon My husband and my self LOVE travelling. -so another reason for getting healthy and loosing that extra weight becomes very important.

Stay well and good luck with your feet!

Hey, there! So nice of you to leave a comment on my blog yesterday about increasing exercise after injury/surgery. I myself had a 4-part reconstruction on my left foot about 3 years ago, so I know how vulnerable the feet are. I'm really taking care of the right one in hopes of not having to go there again.

I have adopted a baby steps approach to my fitness and changing lifestyle. It certainly can't be done in a day nor in a month or even a year, when it's taken 65 years to get me where I am today!

I'll be thinking of you on the 13th . . . and hoping that everything goes well.
