I'm 33 years old, and I've been 'heavy' since I was a 12-year-old tomboy. That weight gradually increased throughout school and at my sedentary desk job until I weighed over 200 pounds. For years I fought to lose weight on my own by cutting back food and sporadic exercise, but I stayed at the exact same weight whatever I did. Sparkpeople has helped a lot.
Update: June 2013 - have lost 50 pounds. Am now at the lightest weight I've had in a decade. Halfway to my goal.
Update: September 2013 - 70 pounds dropped (down to 165). More energy and a plan for winter activities. Feeling good! Down 8 sizes from this time last year.

My Goals:
-Run a 5K
-Complete 30 days of Jillian Michael's Shred.
-Learn to surf.
-Appear in public in a bathing suit without feeling embarrassed. (Done - Oct. 2013)

My Program:
I'm eating better - more protein, a proper calorie allowance, less sugary treats - and more than I have in years, thanks to the suggestions of my food tracker. I started with an easy half-hour walk once a day, but am now up to a long hike every morning before work - 5 miles or more! I'm not very fast, but I've learned I can 'go forever' - so I'm making that patience & stamina work for me!

Personal Information:
I work in an office, spend most of my spare time reading or writing, and enjoy baking as a hobby. It's not really surprising I ended up at 240lbs, considering I didn't do *any* exercise for years. Now I do, my weight is dropping, and I'm feeling much better... while still doing all those things I did before, too!
