Hi - I started my SparkPage to help others as well as be helped by all of the great Spark people who have so many great ideas. I have been motivated more by reading the articles from SP and seeing that I am not alone. I am a 52-year-old wife and mother of 3 terrific sons who bring me more joy than I could ever imagine and are all each inspirational to me in their own way. My sons are 26, 24 and 21 and working towards their own goals in their lives and they amaze me everyday. I also have a new daughter-in-law as my 24 yr old son recently married and I love her very much. I have a terrific husband who loves me no matter what size/weight I am and we try our best to put Christ first in our lives but we are human and fail Him many times. I am a yo-yo dieter and I want to stop this. I have about 30 pounds to lose to get to a normal weight for my age/height and while this may not seem like a lot to some people when you keep gaining and losing the same 20 or so pounds it can get pretty unhealthy and makes me feel very sick (both mentally and physically) at times. I now want to finally get this under control and stop it. I don't want to use events for losing weight any longer as I have done in the past. Looking forward to connecting with others who have some of the same thoughts regarding this unhealthy way of life by continuing to yo-yo diet. I am also a medical transcriptionist and so I do sit for very long periods of time but do have a treadmill which I try to get on during my lunch break. I love my job but it can be a hazard to the bottom half of me! So, no more yo-yo is my mantra!

6/15/08 As of today I have lost approx. 20 pounds since January with the help of SP. I feel so much better and want to stick with this healthy lifestyle so I am sticking with SP!

9/4/08 I had to get real today, I changed my weight ticker which is very hard thing to do but if I don't it is just plain denial! I gained about 5 1/2 pounds since my last ticker change. I know what my downfalls are so I am getting back on track and not giving up or giving in. I am still working on the yo-yo thing. I had a piece of advice given to me from "Kelly Fields" from the Biggest Loser Season 5 when I recently got to hear her speak at the hospital I work for. I told her what my problem was with the yo-yo dieting and she caught me saying "diet" and said she feels that I need to change to it being a "lifestyle" and NOT a diet. I have tried my best not to say the word diet but here it came right out when I got an opportunity to ask her a question. I admire her and will use her advice to get my head straight! Stay tuned.

2/4/09 I am back. I need to start over and now have a friend I work with that I will be accountable to besides continuing on SparkPage. Need to take this one day at time.

1/21/10 I now weigh 163.4 and feel like I am on the right track with getting my yo-yoing under control. I got my head back in the game by 1/3/10 and have been doing my first streak (walking 30 minutes on the treadmill for 30 days in a row). Thanks to SparkPeople I am doing this streak as I have never heard of doing such a thing before.
I have gained more knowledge from this web site than from anything I have ever done in the past. I actually did quite well over the Thanksgiving & Christmas season, yes I ate but I consciously ate and enjoyed every bite but didn't go completely crazy with binge eating. Just sharing where I am at today.

Update: September 15, 2013

Life has changed in so many ways. I need to start over once again. My sister just gave me a book called "Intuitive Eating". I appreciate that she sent it to me as she struggles like I do with binge eating, yo-yo dieting, etc. I am now 56 years old and started menopause just recently and can feel the effects of that in a major way (mood swings, food cravings, hot flashes, etc.). I need to get back on SparkPeople as well because it is very motivational and informational in so many ways. I just re-read my previous posts and it has been more than 3 years since I wrote on this page. I used to think I was changing my life to be an inspiration to my family but I need to do it for me. I think this is all I have for now. Going to check in daily and read some of the great motivational blogs and articles to stay on track.

Fitness Minutes: 50,641

My Goals:
(1) Workout in some capacity everyday for 30 minutes.

(2) Actually drink 6-8 glasses of water each day.

(3) Track all BLTs (bites, licks & tastes) I put into my mouth.

(4) No negative thoughts regarding my self image.

My Program:
(1) 30 minutes on treadmill or outside.

(2) Bike when weather is nice.

(3) Eat between 1200 and 1500 calories making healthy choices.

(4) Drink 6-8 glasses of water everyday.

Personal Information:
I am from the great state of Ohio. Go Buckeyes and Bobcats! I am a Coordinator of Volunteers and Auxiliary Liaison at a local hospital.

I am a Christian and try everyday to be a better person than I was yesterday!
