I've been on sparkpeople a few months now and reached some goals so I thought I should update my page and tell my story.

As a child I was always thin. Mom says I ate very little and had tons of energy. I didn't reach 100 lbs until my freshman year of HS. By college I was 115. I always worked out, mainly strength training mixed with cardio machines. I loved it. (and still do)

It wasn't until I had children that weight and lack of energy became an issue. My first pregnancy was rough - weeks of bedrest, extreme swelling, and eventual diagnosis of toxemia. I had a beautiful healthy baby, though. Following the delivery extreme fatigue set in. The final straw was when I was so burned out that I laid down on the kitchen floor and just bawled. I couldn't understand why I was so tired. My body ached. After 18 long months full of struggle, I was diagnosed with a parathyroid tumor and had surgery. I felt TONS better and got back on track with exercise.

I had three more children after that and every pregnancy I promised to be healthier, exercise, gain less weight, and lose it faster. But that never happened. I was extremely tired and swollen every time. I gained 60 lbs with every pregnancy and felt like my body "shut down" after delivery. I finally realized I was hypothyroid during pregnancy and after delivery which was a HUGE lightbulb moment. I had a nodule on my thyroid that got bigger with pregnancy hormones. Good news is that it eventually shrinks back down to normal. It just takes time.

So here I am - a happy, healthy energetic 37 year old. I tell my story because I know that there are many women out there with similar stories. Pregnancy isn't always this fairy tale situation that hollywood portrays. It's hard for a lot of us. But I think I've learned to never give up on myself. Sometimes things get rough. Life can hand you a lemon, for sure. But it's worth working through. Struggles teach us so much more about ourselves than the easy times do. I wonder what my next hurdle might be....

My Goals:
My original goal when I started SP was to get into my pre-baby clothes. Well, I surprised myself and surpassed that. I was so shocked to find myself shopping for a smaller size jean than I've worn in probably 10 years! My goal is no longer focused on the scale, but rather on strength and fitness gains.

Finished P90X - 8/09
Round 2 p90x - 12/09

Currently doing P90X plus - will finish 6/10 - I can now do real pull ups!

My Program:
P90X - 3 rounds
Chalean Extreme - 1/2 of it, hated it...
P90X plus - 1 round

Hybrid of P90x and other cardio, including Insanity

Personal Information:
Married to an extremely energetic guy and I have 4 great kids.

Other Information:
God gives me peace and strength. He keeps me motivated to take care of myself. He only gave me one body so I better treat it kindly. I try to respecting HIS creation and love me as He made me.
