Meme to 6 precious grandkids, 62 years young, divorced and on a journey to better health.

Growing up I was always about 20 lbs over weight until high school. My junior and senior year I lost the 20 lbs and was 130 on a 5'7" frame. Of course I still felt fat because I had always been. After marriage, I began to gain and four years later I was 176 when I got pregnant with my first daughter. I gained 29 lbs with the pregnancy but lost it all when she was born. Through stress and lack of self confidence in being a mother, I ate my way up to 200 by the second pregnancy five years later. I only gained 4 lbs with that pregnancy through careful eating. I was under 200 when she was born but back to it when I got pregnant six months later with my third daughter. I only gained 6 lbs with that pregnancy.

One would think I would continue to lose with three children to care for but I managed to eat my way up to 250+. When I had heart surgery in 2006, I was at 280. I lost down to 259 after the surgery but managed to put all of it back on. At one time before the surgery, I weighed 293. That's the first time I've typed that and it was hard to do. I guess it's because it's so close to 300.

I joined SP at 283 and it's very slowly coming down. I'm determined to lose the weight for the final time this time. The teams on here are awesome and I'm sure this time I will succeed!

My Goals:
To shop in a "regular" store.
To have my home completely organized.
To be able to run and play with the grandkids.
To be proud of myself for losing the weight.

My Program:
I am following the South Beach Diet.

Personal Information:
I'm a southern girl who was married for 33 years and have been on my own for the last 10 years. Three beautiful daughters, three terrific sons-in-law and five perfect (of course!) grandkids and expecting #6 in December.

I've been heavy all of my life except two years in high school. Have figured out that I'm afraid to lose weight because of past experiences. Those are over. All I have is right now so as Nike says, Just Do It!!

Other Information:
I enjoy reading, sewing, quilting. My best companion right now is my calico kitty. She is a rescue cat and we are a couple of single females just doing our own thing :-)

Hi, Marilyn. I don't think we've met before (or if we did, chalk it up to my poor memory), but I see you joined the challenge on the Over 60++ team. Good for you!! Good luck and drop in on the chat if you feel like it. I'd like to get to know you a little better. Hugs, Jeannie
