Hi!
I have been struggling with my weight since I went to college. I've been on many weight loss programs and have always had success (have spent a fortune on them too!), but have always gained the weight back. My heighest weight was 282 when I found sparkpeople in September 07.....totally on my own.....had never heard of it....was just doing an online search and came upon it. So, as my sweetie always says, "what's different THIS time?" Well, I've thought about that, and this is my conclusion. I am in control of this program. No pre-packaged food just mindlessly going into my body. I am making choices, measuring food, preparing food...etc. That makes the weight loss journey a training ground for the future of maintenance, which is just as hard as losing, if not harder! All those other programs just didn't prepare me for "life" after "dieting". This is NOT a diet. It's a new LIFESTYLE. This time there is no rush to get to some ideal number. Everyday is important. I'm not WAITING for some magical day or number before I start living my life. I've also started exercising consistently for the first time in all my weight loss efforts. What is REALLY interesting to me is I actually ENJOY it now and actually feel bad if I DON'T exercise. That is a HUGE change for me. And I'm not just doing cardio...I've added strength training as well which I've found to be REALLY rewarding. I would have never thought I'd feel this way about exercise.....EVER!
So that's my story...feeling really good and confident that THIS time is the last time I will be losing weight. I plan to maintain this healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life with the help of sparkpeople!!

Originally from Bay Area in CA...but been out of state for 9 years in training (PA, OH). Now I'm back..starting my career and settling in. Want to live a long, healthy, happy life and decided it's in my power to do so!
