Between these two photos are 365 days of tracking and portion control, over 10,000 minutes of exercise, three 5Ks, a 10K, and a sprint triathlon. New Year's Resolution 2017 was a success. Looking forward to 2018!#BeforeAndAfter

I am on a journey to improve myself - my health, my outlook, and my spirit. Looking to be a powerful role model for my two boys (4 and 7)!

I have discovered a love of racing to keep my motivation. Starting from next to nothing fitness-wise in January 2017, and never having run more than 2 miles continuously in my whole life, I just want to keep going!

My Goals:
1. Strength. I do weights as well as cardio. I'd love to bench press 100 lb someday!
2. Endurance. I just keep doing races -- it keeps me motivated! Olympic triathlon is my big goal.
3. Weight loss. Aiming for a "normal" BMI, or a weight of 140 or less.

My Program:
Diet: Track and portion! I aim for real, whole foods with no artificial sweeteners or weird substitutions. Lean protein, whole grains, lots of fruits and veggies, mostly cooked at home. Everything in moderation -- I don't believe in "forbidden" foods, but aim for quality over quantity!

Exercise: Minimum 30 minutes cardio 5-6 days per week and 15 minutes of lifting 2-3 days per week. Lately I've been squeezing in most of my workouts on my lunch break, but I'm still getting them in!

Personal Information:
Hometown: Cleveland, OH

Other Information:
Keeping track of my race list!

5K race - May 2017 - Finished in 39:00
Sprint Triathlon (500m swim,20K bike,5K run) - July 2017 - Finished in 1:51:03
10K race - August 2017 - Finished in 1:16:45
5K race - September 2017 - Finished in 33:45
5K race - December 2017 - Finished in 35:40

emoticon for commenting on Monday blog. I am so relieved that I exercise since there was a time I actually dropped out of doing any meaningful exercise for a full 5 years, simply because my standard was ridiculously out of reach.

Hi There, I just wanted to stop by and say hello. I saw you post to a blog about 10 minutes of exercise, and that is where you started. So the first question in my mind is, "started, wonder where she is now?" I've enjoyed reading up on your journey as a runner. I'm walking that same road, although much closer to the starting line. Your progress is an encouragement to me. I recently finished the Spark Walk 5K Your Way challenge and can walk that distance. Now I'm in the much slower time of converting to a runner. A look at what you have done encourages me to not give up! Thanks....
