Hi my name is Ruth. I have been working on losing my weight since Fall of 2005. I succeeded & was w/in 10#s of my goal in 2007 when my mom passed away. That was the beginning of a slow climb back up the scale.

* Jan 1st, 2012: The past year is 1 I will never wish back. Lots of disappointments as far as mine & our son's health goes. 1st was my wrist problems starting in 2010 that caused me to cut WAY back on my massaging. MY LIVELIHOOD was @ stake. It's a problem that will never go away or get better, but I have learned how to manage the problem MOST of the time. 1 client/day. Stinks, but @ least I can still work some.

**So, here it is, Jan 5, 2015 & I have gained every pound I lost back in the mid 2000's. I ended up having a painful foot issue that no1 could seem to pinpoint. Several Drs & specialists later, there was STILL no answer, but I unsuspectingly fixed it myself in July of 2014. I was having back pain, so I took a muscle relaxant. Low & behold, several days later I realized my foot pain was gone & it hasn't returned since. OMG! 2&1/2 yrs I dealt with this pain, not being able to walk or even ride a bike & 1 little muscle relaxer did it??? So I started back exercising & then peri-menopause reared it's ugly head. I haven't had the money to go find my hormone creams (I've found those work best for me, so thanks for the advice, I've tried others & they don't work as well for me) b/c I'm still paying on MRI's & other bills for my foot (when a simple pill fixed it.... understand my frustrations now?) SO, here I am, a new year, new feeling of rejuvenation & I'm ready to get back to where I was 8 yrs ago.

***Feb 5th, 2016. RIGHT after I wrote last years paragraph, & I mean THAT DAY after I wrote it, I got the call that has changed our whole family's life. My sis has terminal cancer. Ovarian/periteneal. She had surgery for complete hysterectomy & started chemo just 5 weeks later. As of RIGHT NOW, she's cancer free. Her amazingly wonderful mental attitude I think has been her cure all. She's getting scans every 3 months & so far, still cancer free. Doesn't mean she will stay that way, but for now, she's healthy as a horse.

As for me, I had the scare of MY life just this past week on my father's 89th B-day Feb 2nd. I woke at 1:30 a.m. with fluttering in my chest, it was heavy, but not necessarily painful, couldn't get that deep breath taken in, pain in my lower left jaw, & tingling all down my left side, mostly my arm. Woke hubby, decided to drive me 50 miles to the hospital in the start of a blizzard b/c I couldn't walk across the floor w/o assistance due to being SO dizzy & light headed. No heart attack, but was close to it. My heart was in A-fib. Took 12 hrs to get it to sync back up & mine did what's called a "hard connection" or also known as a "cardiac reset". Basically, my heart stopped for 3&1/2 seconds to sync back up, & then all was good. This has scared me enough that all the excuses in the world will not come out of my mouth. I've had issues for YEARS, but no heart test could catch the A-fib in action. It took it in STAYING in A-fib to get diagnosed. Something needs to change in the medical community for that. ANYWAY, I have new determination after years of health issues (not only mine, but others) to scare the determination back in2 me. Just like my mom's confirmation of Alzhiemer's back in 2005. I've learned no amount of money is too much anymore for getting healthy. A complete hysterectomy is in my future this year, also. I have reasons for having it done, now.

Here's to 2016. I lost my weight last time in 2006, so it's time again

*****Well, here we are, Dec 31, 2016. Not the year I hoped for, once again. I'm kicking it to the curb, "Bye bye, Felicia! Don't let the door hit your azz on your way out!"

Got my hysterectomy done as planned, but not on MY terms. I ended up bleeding heavily mid March, found I had a uteran cyst. May 2nd it was all ripped out. Done & done.

But now I'm having horrible back issues. My pelvis tips back which causes my SI joint to slip. This makes it very painful to do ANYTHING. Good news is my PT taught me how to get them back in place, bad news is they will NOT stay there. ANY physical activity, no matter how small, causes it to go out. The LONGER the activity, the worse it is & harder to get to stay in place once I get it back in place. I need to lose weight, but I can't go for walks, get on a TM, do an elliptical, or even do a stationary OR recumbent bike (b/c of it sets off my hip pain). I have found I can do a recumbent STEPPER, but there's only 1 to be found here in town & all the elderly people use it. Luckily it's at the community center here in town that is literally 1 block from my house. But I have to go down there several times/day to find an opening to get on it. Not fun on snowy days. I do have stretches that help & get me through the day.

The back specialist? Just wants to throw pain meds & steroid shots at me. That's NOT going to keep the back in place & I REFUSE to become dependent on pain meds. NOT happening. So, here's to 2017 finding a way to lose weight w/o starving myself & w/o physical activity.
