I've been gaining weight gradually since I stopped schooling my horse 3 or 4 times a week. I kept at 135 for a year but gained 20 pounds in the past year. I got too heavy for my size 8 clothes, outgrew my size 10's and now I'm straining the seams of size 12. In fact I had 2 pairs of jeans split in the seat recently. I decided to get serious about losing weight. I already have a gym membership and go 2 or 3 times a week on my lunch hour because it's near work. I have a gym buddy from my office, but if she had to skip I used that as an excuse not to go myself. In addition to all that I recently read a health article that said it is impossible to execrcise enough to lose weight if you don't control what you eat as well. That makes sense, after 20minutes on the eliptical machine it only says I burned 190 calories, about equal to 2 slices of bread.
Looking for a calorie chart to start a food diary I stumbled uopn the Sparkpeople website and recognized the value of a supportive community and the tools to track my food and excercise. Lets do this together!

My Goals:
I'm trying to lose about25 pounds in the six months before I go on my next vacation. A friend and I are going to India with an Overseas Adventure Travel tour.
I mad it to my goal weight in time for my vacation, and inspite of three weeks of three times a dy buffets, did not gain any weight on vacation!


My Program:
I've been tracking my food choices and excercise. Doing this has given me the willpower to stop eating when I've had a reasonable amount even at buffets and church potluck suppers.

    I am going to live the rest of my life eating healthy and eating good food is part of my plan. NO fast foods.
    So in order to eat good I must cook nice interesting meals.
    I love searching and checking with my friends for foods to fix.
    No boring "diet" foods for me.
    Thank you for the complements on my jewelry. I love designing pieces and seeing people enjoy and ware them.
    I am almost to goal. I am not pushing it, just take each day as it comes and when it happens it will. Then it's just continue on, maybe eat a little more to maintain and enjoy my new found life.

    Your comments were spot on.
    I have been through a lot. i have changed my habits, the tastes of that former food is gone. I will not awaken those craving . They are best left in some far far away place.
    The more aware you are of what condition you are in the less you think of returning in any way shape of form to the former self.
    And yes the more people notice , the better it makes you feel.
    That's why I tell most people of what I have accomplished. Plus I am proud and I want people to know that there is hope out there for anyone who wants to embark on a life changing journey.
