Hi, I am allowing myself to "play" sp every day that I watch what I eat, currently non processed and exercise. I found I liked to see what level I could get to. I gained the weight back and more while I got to level 10. When I noticed, I made the new ruling to ear right and exercise to be able to log in the nex day.

Looking forward to reading about your journey. I hurt my right hip when I was 11 they fused it. Now here I sit at 38 arthritis bad in both hips and both hips needing to be replaced. i"m procrastinating at the moment. But hopefully after reading your story and reading in the hip group i'll get brave enough to dive in!

Hi Jen: yes my entire walking gait still feels totally "not normal'. I don't know how else to describe it. It's like I have to really concentrate on what I'm doing. I hope it becomes natural again soon.
I know for fact that I was told there was no plastic in the prosthesis, so what does that tell you.I have been a fitness instructor for many, many years. Over the past few years, I focused on strength training classes, so muscle is my thing! It's my favourite area to teach. My ortho. surgeon told me that I can use ankle weights now as long as they are light, so that is encouraging. I start teaching again the middle of Sept.
I spoke to someone this evening who had a knee replacement and she mentioned injections that would help both knee and hips. The knee injection is called Synvisc, and she couldn't remember the name of the hip injection. They apparently help for several years to delay surgery. This is in Canada. Have you heard of anything in the USA? Susan

Omg Jen: that was fast; next Tuesday! I'll be praying for you girl! It's too bad that you'll miss your son's big day, however, I know that you're in so much pain with that other hip, so that's a good thing. Your parents sound like wonderful, supportive people, and I know they'll make sure that he does just fine.
You know, I didn't think to ask my surgeon anything more regarding my prosthesis, although I do know that they didn't use any plastic, so I would assume it would be metal. He just said that it's titanium, so I assumed the whole thing was titanium. No? Am I wrong? You know so much about this. I'm really ignorant!
My hip, knee and foot continue to all turn inward as I walk, so even when I force my foot to turn outwards, my knee and hip continue to turn in. I'm considering going for my own physio therapy since I never had any, and just paying for it. I think it would certainly be worth it.
I will be going back to teaching fitness classes in about 4 weeks, so I really hope that will improve. Susan

Hey Jen: thought I would update you briefly on my ortho. surgeon appt. today.
I blogged about it today, so check it out if you want.
The prosthesis was not cemented, hence the permission to weight bear from the beginning.
I have permission to do almost anything, except that I still have to adhere to the original precautions for another month.
He mentioned that my other hip is bad too, but I didn't want to go there at this point. I'm not like my spark friend Jen lol.
Your appt. is coming up in a couple of days right? Let me know how you make out as well. Susan
