Life is an awesome journey, despite the occasional stumbling blocks. I'm not ready to slow down just yet. In fact, I feel like I'm getting a second wind.

Hi; I'm Mackenzie Sage Wright. I go by 'Mac,' or 'Sage' as I am known in Pagan circles.' Nice to meet you.

I never know what to open with-- what is the first thing I want to describe myself as? Wife? Mother? Wiccan? Writer?

They're all equally part of what makes me who I am. I am happily married with 3 kids (2 teens & a 20-something) and my family is tight-knit and my love for them knows no bounds.

I am also a Wiccan Witch, and my spirituality plays a huge roll in my life. My family is Pagan and my Gods have been my support system-- I can draw from them whatever I need to get through: strength, love, comfort, guidance, wisdom, patience, determination, etc. They have taught me a profound respect for life and from them I've learned many lessons along my path.

I'm a writer, both by trade and by passion. It's how I make a living and it's how I keep my sanity.

Sooo, I suppose I should say something about why I am here at Spark People: I have long struggled with my weight. I grew up with bad habits that were hard to break for a long time. But my health took a severe downhill turn a few years ago.

I'll spare you the details, but I have been diagnosed with Sarcoidosis, diabetes and a neurotransmitter deficiency. In 2012 I thought I was dying... and probably was. Needless to say, continually inability to do anything physical, or stay awake, brought on depression, anxiety, and my weight soared. But after a long hospital stay they finally figured out the problem & I started getting treatment.

It was still an uphill battle. I was in a wheelchair, on all kinds of meds, and the weight continued to rise as some bad habits refused to go.

But as the Beatles said, it's getting better all the time. For that I'm truly blessed and grateful.

Real foods on a daily basis: water, veggies (mostly), fruits, lean meats in moderation, some dairy, legumes, nuts & seeds, oatmeal.

Keeping processed foods down to a very bare minimum though I have not sworn off them yet.

Daily exercise.

A good attitude.

The right spells & a dose of faith ;o)

Other things about me: I'm an artsy/craftsy kind of person, I love photography, scrapbooking, painting, I love to garden though mostly it's been container gardening herbs & veggies since I'm an apartment dweller. I love to cook. My family are crazy about Disney World. I love camping -- more now than ever since there was a few years during which I simply couldn't do it. Now that I can again, I relish it.
