Hi, my name is Lynn and I live in Virginia. I am 58 and have COPD (on oxygen 24/7) for the past several years. I have also had both hips replaced and both knees. Being overweight has been an issue my whole life. Whether I was a little overweight or now that I am morbidly obese. (I HATE that term). Looking back now I attribute part of the problem is I was not taught nutritious eating and having an Italian mother we learned to eat full rich meals. Also food has always been my comfort. And that is why my life has been a roller coaster with up and down weights.

I lost my husband of 20 years to a massive heart attack 7 years ago and also lost our daughter the following year. They were my life and I fell into a reclusive, depressed, sendentary life just waiting for God to take me. I still have a son but my health and becoming a recluse overwhelms him. Well I am still here but now most of my misery is from the awful, morbidly obese, out of shape mess I have become.

Well I finally woke up and decided I had to do something. For whatever reason God wants me here so I have to do something because I am a mess. Finding is exactly what I need. I have been like a sponge trying to learn all there is and getting right into tracking my nutrition and learning to be accountable.

Creating my SparkPage has taken me some time but I finally am accomplishing this task. There is still so much to learn, but since I have a long journey, I have a "whole person" (147 lbs) to lose, I'm sure I will become a seasoned SparkPerson by the time I reach my goal.

I welcome any input, advice or wisdom that anyone has to offer. I feel like even though this will be a long journey, I am not alone because I found

Hi! I was playing the Word Association game in the forums and saw your ticker and was super impressed by how much you've lost. I just wanted to stop by to congratulate you, because you're doing AWESOME. Keep up the fantastic work! As you said in your bio on this page, God wants you here; I'm going to guess that part of the reason is your ability to inspire others through your own efforts to overcome great loss and lead a healthier lifestyle. :) Thank you for the inspiration!

I am so sorry to hear that you are under the weather. Having recently endured a bout of the flu I can sympathize. Maybe you could try to do the chair marching in place while you sit up. It is definitely some exercise and does not tax your system to much. Also you can do in in incriments. Hope you get well soon.
