LOL.... I just reread my introduction and was it a while ago. My boys are now 18 and 15! My name is Jackie and I live in Phoenix, AZ. I am a mom to two wonderful boys, 11 and 14 and a wife to an awesome man. When I was younger (and skinny, yes skinny 97 pounds all the way until I was 30), I never would have believed I could get as heavy as I am. I used to be able to eat and eat and never put on an ounce. Then I quit smoking and had children. I could say that it is just baby fat, but my babies are no longer babies. I realized I had to do something about my weight right before Christmas last year when I got on the scale and I was heaver that I was when I was pregnant. What a devistating realization.

So.....I started this journey back in the beginning of 2008. I did really well for about 3 months. I was extremely motivated at the time. Not only had I just found Sparkpeople, but we were having a "Biggest Winner" competion at my school. Anyone could join, students, staff, whoever wanted. You had to choose a partner and the partner with the bigggest change would be judged at the end of the contest. My partner was a counselor on campus who was as excited as I was about the contest. Just 2 days after signing up, my partner found out she was pregnant. I had told so many people about being in the contest and that I was going to win. Constantly, I had people asking how I was doing, how much weight I had lost. I had to do this to save face. From January thru the end of school in May, I lost 20 pounds. Everyone was sure I was going to win the contest and the $400. Out of nowhere, a team of 2 students weighed in. The partner with the biggest change had lost 30 pounds! He had also grown 3 inched and started running track on the track team. He was 16! I am 47! My 20 was certainly alot more difficult to lose that his 30, with a 3 inch height growth! To my disappointment, I came in second. Since then I have been struggling to get remotivated.

I know what I need to do. It is just a matter of doing it. I remember how fantastic I felt as people noticed the changes, as I noticed the changes. Now I need to find the inner strength and fortitude to get back on track, on the treadmill, and on the healthy food train.
