I'm updating my story... I was doing so very well and was motivated and felt great. In June 2009 after losing more than 30lbs I had to have my gallbladder removed (a combo of heredity and apparently weightloss). I used my recovery from surgery as an excuse to slack off. I got engaged Fall 2009 and allowed wedding planning and stress to take up all of my time and now here I am more than a year after surgery, 5 months married, and back to where I started in January 2009. I'm determined to improve my health and fitness. My wonderful active husband is very supportive! We would like to start a family next year so I'm pushing myself to get healthy and fit so that I can have a healthy pregnancy and enjoy the rest of my life!

March 2009
I'm here because I'm determined to improve my quality of life. In the summer of 2008, I was the heaviest I've ever been; I've been busted and unhealthy for far too long and I'm over it.

I've been heavy most of my life. I recently found some photos of me between the ages of 5 and 8 and I'm pretty sure that's the last time I had a healthy BMI. I played some sports in middle school, but I was still always the token chubby girl on the team who was benched a lot. I practiced yoga in my late teens and early twenties, but never intensely or regularly enough to lose weight. I've always been an avid reader and have studied tons of information about health and weight loss, but never put any of it into practice long enough to see results.

I joined Spark in 2007 and never did anything with it. I started working out regularly near the end of January 2009 and one day while I was on the treadmill I remembered my membership here. I logged in on January 31st and have logged in every day since.

I actually LOVE exercise and always have, I've just never made it a priority until now. I was plagued with several mysterious health symptoms last year and had tons of tests and blood work done. By some miracle they all came back normal and healthy although I'd been wrecking my body with fast food and a busy DVR-watching schedule. I also had a pretty serious foot injury that took 8 months to heal but healed so extraordinarily well that I have no pain or problems at all. I know many say that a health scare pushed them into changing their habits, but for me it was the fact that my body was continuing to care for me even though I was trashing it. I have the knowledge and tools I need to care for myself. Now it's time to use them.
