My two years on Spark have taught me to keep trying, no matter the circumstances. I learned that giving up is not an option - I tried it and ended up disgusted with myself and right back here again. I think the most important thing I’ve learned is that slipping off track does not define me as a “bad” person but only makes me want to prove that I can be the person I want to be. Today is my “first” day back on track after a streak of five days of “poor choices.” Reading the following quote helped bring me back:

“It doesn't matter if you try and try and try again, and fail. It does matter if you try and fail, and fail to try again.” ~ Charles Kettering

“Your life is the sum result of all the choices you make, both consciously and unconsciously. If you can control the process of choosing, you can take control of all aspects of your life. You can find the freedom that comes from being in charge of yourself.”
~ Robert Foster Bennett

That quote made me think back upon the choices I made in my “less than stellar” 2011. I made many of those choices without thinking about the consequences; made them in the “spur of the moment” without weighing the pros and cons. I tended to choose immediate gratification without thinking of my future and I’m paying for it now by dealing not only with a weight gain, but with reawakened medical issues!

I hope you’ll join me in taking control of making choices; being mindful eaters and exercisers; being “in charge of ourselves” and our lives! Let’s work together to stay focused, determined, positive, and strong as we make better choices that will have a lasting impact on our lives.!

I ran across the following quote and it made me stop and think about many of the aspects of my life. It seems like I’ve been conditioned to expect and accept less than the best for myself and from myself. I’m still working on trying to figure out exactly why that is, but I know it’s time to change!
Let’s continue making changes in our lives - expecting and accepting only the best we can do!

“Set your sights high, the higher the better. Expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future but right now. Realize that nothing is too good. Allow absolutely nothing to hamper you or hold you up in any way.” ~ Eileen Caddy
