Well, after reading some of the stories posted here, I decided I would share mine. I just didnt want to come off as whiney because Im usually positive and count my blessings.

January 7th 2005 I had emergency gallbladder surgery. I wweighed 405 and the doctor said no problm he had done this surgery for years on people larger than I. So when I woke up he said they couldnt do the Laproscopic surgery and had to cut me open and I would spend a few days in the hospital. I felt fine where I had the inscion. Then each day the nurse woulod give me an injection of a drug called Lovenox around my belly button to prevent blood clots. I would get huge painful bruises the size of grapefruits and some swelling. They assured me this was normal and it would go away. The pain from these shots were intense and I kept asking for more and more pain medicine. Finally after 7 days i was sent home. I had my husband take me to the emergency room and back to the surgeons office many times. No one could figure out what was wrong. My abdomen kept swelling and swelling! Finally I had about 25lbs of swelling on me and I was having a hard time breathing. Feb 10th 2005 I went to the ER again and there was a doctor who said yes you are having a reaction to the Lovenox injections, I have seen this before. Here take Prednisone 50mg for 5 days and then decrease it and you will be fine. well within 4 hours the fluid was coming off in buckets! I was so happy , i started feeling better each day. Within 3 days 20lbs was gone. The following week as I decreased the dose, the fluid started to build up again....and this began my nightmare. I went to 30 doctors and even Johns Hopkins ho couldnt figure out what was wrong. All I could do was lay in bed in pain. Thenthe fluid built up so much, it put pressure on my lower back badly herniaed my L4 and L5 disc and now I have Spinal Stenosis.

So I finally found a plastic surgeon who said lets cut it off and maybe that will be the answer, well he cut me hip to hip and took off 25 pounds. Then I got real sick. I died on the operating table and they brought me back, thans be to God! The tissue grew back twice as bad as before. I became diabetic and a few other things.

So the dr has tried 3 medications to reduce the swelling and I am a mess today. The doctor put me on a new med 3 weeks ago and it will take time before it kicks in. Meanwhile I have an additional 40lbs of swelling added to the 35lbs I had. I walk bent ovr with a walker and my abdomen is huge and painful. The doctor has increased the steroids I take but so far its not helping. I am in prayer and hoping and believing that God will get me through this time.

Reading your stories has given me hope to go forward. Thank you all for sharing.

    Good Morning, Lori!

Just stopping by to see how you are on this beautiful Tuesday. I'm wondering how your Panniculitus (sp?) is doing. I've never heard of this before and don't know what it is - - - let's see, I'll take a wild guess - - - an inflammation of the Pancreas?? emoticon

I hope you're doing better, and I will continue to pray for you.

Have a wonderful day today, and just know that:
