Do you remember that movie with Tom Hanks called Castaway? It didn't receive particularly great reviews. One night years ago, I was watching that movie. I was in the deepest, darkest place. I had been in an abusive marriage which inevitably lead me to have to move and uproot my children. I cried out to God this night and you would expect that if He was going to communicate with me that He would have something profound to say. Just as I finished an anguished plea, Tom Hanks was asked in the movie how he made it through his experience. His response was so simple and a totally unexpected message from God. Hanks said something like this when he realized he had power over nothing. He realized that he could do one thing though....keep going, keep breathing. He ended with this quote, “So now I know what I have to do. I have to keep breathing. And tomorrow the sun will rise, and who knows what the tide will bring in.”

I'm trying to keep it simple because I tend to read, read, read and then decide I will do something when I have all the information. Sounds like a good plan until you realize that this puts off real living.

Personal Information:
I'm a 53 year old blushing bride (Sept. 20, 2013) with three wonderful young adult children biologically and three more from my marriage. I became an instant Grandma of six grandchildren on my wedding day and I am adjusting nicely to being called Grandma Laurie.

Thank you so much for the kind words on my blog! I completely agree with you. I learned a lot in my two previous attempts with spark people, just as I learned things from trying weight watchers, jenny craig, etc etc. When I started my 3rd journey I had to forgive for myself for what I viewed as "past failures" and eventually realized those "failures" made me that much stronger and more prepared for the journey that I am now. emoticon
