Hello!

I was a fellow sparker back in 2008(?). Yeah, it's been a minute. Now I am 53 and STILL overweight.

I live about 20 miles outside of Charleston, WV. My husband and I have been married 32 1/2 years and we have two boys--24 and 15. I was an elementary teacher from 2004-2019. I took a little time off and just substituted while my dad was alive and had Alzheimer's. When I went back to full time work I WAS SHOCKED. All the teachers were SOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOUNG! Three years didn't seem like a long time to be gone, but man did things ever change. It was faster and smarter and way harder than it was when I started 15 years ago.

Right now I am trying to find a job that uses my teaching skills but not in a public school environment. While I am waiting for that opportunity to be available, I have decided to work on me. I need to nourish my body and draw closer to the Lord.

I loved Sparkpeople years ago and I'm starting to like it again. I think I remember it being a little different than it is now, but I will adjust. This old dog CAN learn a few new tricks!

Happy Sparking!

Fitness Minutes: 130

My Goals:
1) Eat foods that are not processed.

2) Spend time with my bible (or bible app) each day and pray

3) Work on building habits rather than setting goals.

My Program:
I struggle with this one a little. I like the whole foods thing, but try to be conscientious about calories, too. I like the Keto diet but I'm afraid to commit totally to it. I like the Spark plan because it is "things in moderation."

Personal Information:
I am trying to branch out and taste new foods. I am determined to find some family recipes that are less fatty and still good. I want my boys to crave my special salads, smoothies and main dishes. I'm an old-time cook with lots of fat and sugar and I am resolved to do better with this.
