My name is Lindsay and Im 26 years old. I am a mother of one little girl whos 6 years old! Ive been struggling with my weight for roughly 9 years. It started in high school when i got diagnosed with depression which started me on and lead to alot of emotional eating. I went thru alot of stuff most high school students dont go thru. Im lucky to be outta the situation that got me here, but i still struggle with the long term mental/emotional/psychological effects of my past. I am unhappy being obese and want to change. I fear being this big forever. I struggle with motivation and strength but really want to be healthier and weigh alot less. I have also tried to eat better/get active before and it only lasted a couple days at a time. I gave into what I sometimes feel is an "addiction" to food. I am starting my journey again, starting at 273lbs and being only 5'2. I have faith in myself this time.

Ugh my journey is going slow...it isn't easy changing 20 something years of bad habits, when things don't go the way I want it's so much easier for me to say "forget this, it's never going to happen, it's taking to long" and a bunch of other excuses...it's sooooooo hard to focus on making change when you are feeling discouraged in other places in your life. If you aren't happy at your job (or aren't happy in any other way) it runs into every other part of your life and makes everything else about your life seem crummy. I know it's hard to believe but everything happens for a reason and this will pass. It took us all a long time gain the weight we have to lose, we can't expect to lose it over night. Make small changes right now, go to the gym at least once a week, or stop drinking soda, or cut down on your fast food intake...I think if you say "tomorrow I'm going to go to the gym and I'm not going to eat any carbs and I'm going to stop drinking EVERYTHING except for soda and a few glasses of milk a day and I'm going to lose 20 pounds in a month..." damn, I'm exhausted just typing that!! I think by setting up crazy goals like that you are setting yourself up for failure. I understand the motivation thing, I need a kick in the ass so I can get to the gym and really get on program but I can't seem to put on my gym shoes and go...which allows me to say "well since I'm not going to the gym anyways, I might as well eat this HUGE bowl of ice cream..." but that's not what making life changes is about! So today I didn't go to the gym, but I'm not eating everything that isn't tied down either. I'm not using my non-exercising as an excuse to inhale everything I can find, I'm making small changes today that will lead to bigger changes down the road. I know you can commit to a small change too and maybe that's the motivation you need to get you back on track. Whatever you decide stick to it and if you fall of the wagon forgive yourself and get back on track-just because you slipped doesn't mean you need to stay down. You can get back on track right after you fall off track! Just forgive yourself. That's my worst problem, I mess up and I beat myself up for it and I don't get back on track because I'm mad at myself for messing up and it's a viscous cycle. Today-look at yourself in the mirror and say "I forgive myself, and I commit to _________". And then just do it. I know you can, and I'm here if you need someone to talk to. Believe me, I've been there!! You are not alone. emoticon

Hey sweetie it is so good to hear from you :) I am proud of you for coming back and staying on here. With all of this support you can't go wrong. I know what you mean about feeling blahh! I have felt that way all this week and I am not sure why? It sucks to feel like this but you need to keep your head held high and move forward! You can do this!! One day at a time.. that is what I keep telling myself. Even if I have a .4 loss, it is still a loss. The slower the better. You will know when you are ready to get back in gear and when you are ready you will do great. Ease back into it... again I am so glad to hear from you. Please keep in touch and if you need to vent daily.. you know where I am!! emoticon

Hey it's good to hear from you, but sorry to see that things arent going too great...trust me, I feel what you're saying. I get so frustrated when I lose myself and overeat...or when I think I'm on track but then either stay the same or lose weight. I hate to hear that you're not feeling good about yourself though emoticon You have to remember that you are worth it and you deserve happiness.
Do you ever watch any of the weight loss shows? Those always give me such good inspiration - may be the extra push you need to get going. I like to watch the Biggest Loser and Ruby when I'm working out. It may sound corny, but watching those success stories and following their journeys makes me feel like I can do it too. And don't forget, exercise releases endorphines, so getting in a good cardio workout will chemically make you feel happier!
SO lets work together to get things going!
