Hi..I'm extremely introverted with mad social anxiety. I'm great once I get to know someone, but I'm very shy. Coming onto this site is a last resort. I need help and I don't know where else to turn.

I was always very thin growing up, never had any weight issues. I had 3 children and with each child I gained 10 lbs. That wasn't horrible, since I started out 105, ended up being just under 140. I wasn't happy with that, but never did anything about it. My biggest problem came on April 16, 2007, the shooting at Virginia Tech. I was next door when it occurred, heard every single gun shot. We feared there was a gunman in our own building for quite some time. The days and months after that completely changed who I was. It was horrific to say the least. I slowly gained weight. Then, in 2011, a friend of mine, who was an officer on campus, was shot and killed point blank just down the road from me on campus. I had just seen and talked to him the day before. I was beyond devastated. He was what made me feel safe. He would come by and talk to me every chance he could when he worked a daylight shift. All of a sudden, my safety and my friend was gone with one gun shot. After that, I ballooned up. I've gained 30 lbs in that short amount of time.

I need my old life back, I don't like feeling self-conscious. I don't like watching my waist line grow and the size and pants go up a size. I'm only 35 years old. I can't keep this up. I want to feel healthy and not tired all the time. I can't let those events define who I am anymore.
