What's up everyone? I'm Jorge. A little about myself:

There really isn't much to it. I am going to be 28 and I have known for the past two years that I was steadily getting more and more out of shape. I kept coming up with excuses not to pursue a healthier lifestyle. When my youngest daughter was born, I was able to come up with even more excuses why working out could wait. That is around the point when I weighed my most at 230 pounds.

Last year I made efforts to lose weight, and succeeded to an extent. I ended up shaving off 20 pounds, but I still feel sluggish in the morning. My knees still hurt if I do too much bending or kneeling at work. My ankles are probably the area to take the greatest effect. I am lucky not to have had any injuries, but I feel like I am just one bad step away from it.

I have now decided to avoid rationalizing my negative ways, and have just begun the Insanity workout. I just did my fit test, which provided me with a huge reality check. Time to put up, there is no other option. I have a weight goal in the 180-range, but I would also accept being under 200 with significantly less fat.

UPDATE AS OF 1/27/2012:

While I may not have reached my target weight by the target date I established last year, I still got there nevertheless. I am now down to 186 lbs!!! I look back to where I was when I started, and it is amazing how far I have come on this journey. To lose almost 50 lbs is quite the feat, and I am truly proud of that accomplishment. As of late, I have been doing other things to stay active. I play more with my kids, try to get some workouts in at work when I am not busy, etc.

I recently decided I am going to also pursue something that makes me happy. I am going to try to change the world one person at a time. Society has lost its voice, and I am going to do my part in reviving that. You can look me up on google, the videos are titled "Opinions From an Average Jorge". I'll be posting one every week. Depending on how much attention and feedback I receive, I will probably take it up a notch and purchace a digital camcorder and start talking to people all over the place so they can have a voice in my videos as well.

Aside from that, life is getting better. I can honestly say that my pursuit of a healthier lifestyle can be attributed to the present pursuits I am undertaking. Thank you all for the support you have given me along the way. More updates to come in the future!

My Goals:
I just want to feel good when I wake up in the morning. I want to play with my daughters and be able to keep up with them. I want to be able to look in the mirror and say that I am proud of who I see standing before me. I want to be able to show others that all it takes is the willingness and motivation to succeed; with that, anything can be achieved.

My Program:
I am going to "dig deep" with Insanity. If all goes well, I may actually do two rounds, and then work my way into P90X later on in the year. For now, it's Insanity.

Personal Information:
I'm originally from Boston, MA. Joined the Air Force in 2003. Separated in 2007 and have been in Texas ever since.

    Hey man, I was just reading an old comment you left on my page awhlie back telling me the soda has got to go! :) And guess what, it has! Several months ago, I did what my wife suggested and stopped drinking all soda with Caffeine. I still had non caffeinated sodas like sprite and certain orange, grape and root beers, and the non caffeine version of coke, but I couldn't touch my favorite Mt Dew. :( but after a couple months or so of that, I noticed I didn't crave that morning soda and eventually I stopped craving soda entirely! IT's a FREAKIN MIRACLE MAN! Ever since I was a little kid, I had soda and would actually get sad about not having an adult it just got worse because if I wanted soda, I could get it anytime of the day....apparently I was really addicted to the caffeine! :) Who knew? Well, my wife knew apparently! :) Now, I might have a soda every once in awhile, but it's rare, I'm too busy getting my gallon of water in a day! I've got 2 sodas in my cubby here at work that have been there for months now and for along time I had a can of mt. dew rolling around in my car and it was even tempting anymore. I will never have caffeinated soda again, never. So I just wanted to let you know, I did it, I gave up Soda!

    Thanks for the comment on my progress! It's helps to hear that someone can see a difference even when I can't... It has been hard to discern a difference in my weekly pics since the first month ended.
