Hello all! I am trying to get into shape for my wedding in April 2009. I am really determined to stick with it and get healthy and I hope to meet others who are motivated and will help me out!

I have discovered over this very brief time that I have been dieting that I absolutely have an addiction to food. I can't have just "one bite" the same way an alcoholic cannot have just "one drink" or a junkie can't have just "one more high." This fact has been a real eye opener, and to be honest, extremely helpful in detering me from eating foods that derail me from my diet. If i go out for mexican food and eat one chip, i'm going to eat the entire bowl of chips. Therefore, I DONT EAT CHIPS! problem solved. It's like if i dont taste the foods that are not good for me (but SO delicious) then i don't feel tempted to eat them...but if i have even one taste, i will end up blowing my diet for the entire day. Maybe over time I can learn to control this feeling, but then again, maybe not. And i am okay with that. As long as I can stay on the train of health, if i never eat another chip in my life i will be fine.

Another tid bit of information i have picked up along the way is there are 2 kinds of people in this world. People who support the diet and people who sabotage the diet. I love to surround myself with diet supporters because they do not tempt me to cheat. They eat what they want to eat, but they do not offer me to taste or ask if i want an appetizer or a soft drink or ice cream or anything! They carry on conversation like normal. If we are at a resturaunt they order what they want to eat, and we do not discuss it. BUT ON THE OTHER HAND there are the unpleasant sabotagers. The people who either don't care, don't know, or don't want you on a diet. All of them equally menacing and equally difficult to be around. They always want to go out to eat. They always want to go out for ice cream. All they ever want to do is eat! And they have the mentality that "if you cheat, i'll cheat too!" HORRIBLE! what a nightmare they can be. But, people like that are a fact of life, and i will hopefully learn to live in the world with them. This is an addiction that i created and i have to get on with my life.

Hey Lauren, haven't heard anything about that eating healthy thing you were doing. What's up??? And now the wedding is in Nov.... OMG! I am so excited for you and Phillip. Well, here are some yummy recipes to try now or when you become a wife and cook dinner on those rare occasions ;)

Go to my spark page and then go to my chicken recipes (bottom of page, left hand corner). Try the following, they are DELICIOUS!
    1. Jenns Slow Cooker Italian Chicken (used FF cream cheese)
    2. Couscous & Chicken Feta Stuffed Red Peppers
    3. Low Fat King Ranch Chicken (be sure to add some seasoning to this one. I used cummin, tony's, garlic salt, red and black pepper).

Lauren, I don't think I have laughed that much in MONTHS! HAHAHA! Seriously! "A hibernating bear" HAHAHAHA!!!! Ok, first of all, you need to be accountable and weigh once a week and out it on here. I know, it sucks but do it! I did and it makes you think about it. Second, don't beat yourself up over it. Most it it will be gone in a day or so... as long as you get back to eating healthy. We all cheat sometimes. The thing is, don't keep on going on that eating bad path. What did you eat today? I got off some this weekend too. But today was a whole new day and I am back on track, eating healthy and worked out at the gym. I actually did 50 minutes on the elliptical! WOO HOO!!! Anyway, it'll be alright. Just GET BACK ON IT! And put your weight in there. What day will you weigh on weekly?

Hey Lauren, the people you call "sabotagers" I call "feeders," all the same thing. You know, like you said... these can be some of the people who truly love and care about you and mean no harm. My Mom is a feeder. She likes to make me feel better with food. That and my family and I are all EATERS! We LOVE to eat!!!! That is how we socialize. As far as your statement about the chips.... right on sister!!! If I eat one, the whole basket is GONE IN 60 SECONDS (like the movie). But at some point, you may be able to eat your "favorites" in moderation but probably not a good idea right now. Anyway, continue to surround yourself with those who support you. And for those who love you and just "want to feed you" let them know just how important this is to you. And the importance of them not offering you the things you should not be eating. For the most part, they will lay off. But remember, they have been doing their "feeding" for a long time too so cu them some slack. It will take them some time NOT to be sabotager/feeders. Love ya Lauren and keep uo the great work!
