My Weight Loss Journey...Dream It, See It, Believe It, Achieve It!

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

Hi, welcome to my SparkPage! I have been on this journey since Jan 2007, and I have lost more than 40 lbs. so far. My weight problem is do to having 3 kids (12 yr boy, 9 yr girl and 4 yr girl) and because I love snacks. My main goal is to feel better about my image and to get ride of the pregnacy bulge. The weight loss journey has not always been easy, some days are harder than others, but I feel better than I have in years. I have more energy, sleep better, and have more enthusiasm and self-confidence.

I have become addicted to exercise, and look forward to my workouts. Hiking and walking have become my bliss, and I am on the trail every chance I get (Except during the winter). What a great way to manage stress!

Losing weight is not rocket science, if I can do it, anyone can! It's just a matter of being committed, consistent, and in control! Drinking plenty of water, recording my food choices, and exercising regularly have changed how I look and feel.

Joining SparkPeople is one of the best things I've ever done for myself.

My Goals:
My goal is to lose at least 20 pounds before the end of November of 2011 when we are going on vacation. We are going to Cancun!!

My Program:
My plan is to do the treadmill for 30-40 minutes every day and continue to do an exercise video during the evening (30 day Shred). I will also watch what I am eating and stay in the guidelines of what SparkPeople have given me to do.

    Linda, how are you doing lately? I made up a really cool kind of treadmill workout that's giving me great results. It takes an hour. Adjust to your own speed. Here's what I do. First, have REALLY GREAT MUSIC on your iPod. Then, set the incline at 1.5 and leave it there the whole time. You're gonna be doing walking/running intervals for 3 minutes each time. Whenever you walk, it'll always be at 4.0 mph. The runs will be 5.0, 5.3, 5.5, 5.7, 6.0, 6.0 (yes, twice, suffering's good for the soul), 5.7, 5.5, 5.3, 5.0. You'll be so busy the whole time making sure what speed you're gonna do and when the next 3 minutes is up that you won't have time to get bored! When I'm done, I make sure I stretch, then roll. I burn over 500 calories this way, and it's a terrific workout! Try it...maybe you'll like it! I do it every Sunday morning. ~~Lori

    Hi, Linda! Thanks for stopping by my page. Yep, I was doing the Flat Belly Diet before I went on vacation (the Jump Start works really well). I've gotten off track quite a bit, so today is the first day of getting back to the gym/eating healthy! I find I eat pretty healthy most of the time (sticking to "whole foods" for the most part), and by adding the MUFA's to my daily meals, it's really helped keep me satisfied. And yes, I grew up in New Jersey (Carlstadt--northern NJ) all my life until I was an adult, and now I live in Oregon. It's beautiful here! Have a wonderful day. ~~Lori 8-)
