Hot to Trot & TOO HARD to Handle baby!
Hiya! I am Skye. I got married in August of 2008 and I am struggling with the happy fat that comes with a marriage. My husband and I love to eat and I love to cook! I try to cook healthy, but sometimes it just eludes me and we end up having something totally unhealthy! I am here to learn how to monitor what I eat and live a healthier life, along with learning how to cook healthy easily!

Hiya!
I have always been a relatively healthy eater and worked out occasionally. In high school I played volleyball and didn't realize until after I graduated that I was working out 3 hours a day, every day! After my senior year, I gained about 15 lbs at college and I wrote it off as the normal weight gain. I worked at a restaurant and started dating someone who was HORRIBLE for me and I ended up losing about 40 lbs. I think I weighed about 115-120 at the time and I looked ill. I hate looking at those pictures!
Then, I fell in love and met my now-husband and we love to eat. We love chewy bread and stinky cheese and yummy wine. And, you can tell by looking at us! Together we have gained too much weight! Right now he is still in grad school getting a Master in Divinity so time to work out for him is limited, but we are moving in May and hopefully we will be able to work out together then.
I am a generally happy person. I don't like to be angry or hold grudges against people - I think it is a huge waste of my time and energy. I love to take care of my family and friends with FOOD. We are big eaters. I love to try new things but I am a pretty picky eater. For example, I know that I don't like seafood because I have tried it all numerous times! I am trying to find ways to incorporate the foods I love (bread and cheese, namely) into a healthy diet.
One thing I have learned so far is that this will not be easy. The weight will not just fall off overnight and I have to stick with it. Unlike most other new Sparkers, I did not lose a lot of weight to begin with. Instead, I started at 176 and it took me a month to lose 9 lbs and it was constantly up and down during that month. But, I stuck with it and I met my first goal today and it was SO worth the wait! I feel better and my clothes fit better and... there are just so many other benefits to working out and eating right than just results from the scale!
Here are some quotes that truly inspire me every time I read them:
"The best inspiration is not to outdo others, but to outdo ourselves."
"If you went running when you first started thinking about it, you'd be back by now."
"Others aren't staring at you. They're thinking how they should be running, too."
"Someone who is busier than you is running right now."
"The road to hell is paved with couches."
"It's easier to sleep than run. That's why sleeping isn't an olympic sport."
"Being a woman does not make me a better Christian. But, being a Christian does make me a better woman."

My end goal is to be at 135 by 7/31/09.
I want to be able to jog once around my neighborhood without stopping to walk.
I want to be able to have a happy, healthy pregnancy when the time comes and be able to lose the weight afterwards.
I want to inspire my husband to be healthy with me!
My Program:
1. Eat 6 times/day and spread my calories around so I don't feel hungry at night.
2. Eat more fruits and veggies today than I did yesterday.
3. Drink at least a gallon of water every day.
4. Work out 5 days per week.
5. Use Spark to track my calories eaten and calories burned.
6. Eat at least 3 home cooked healthy meals per week.
Personal Information:
I'm Skye and I am a true-blue Texas girl. I love to play with my dog outside, ride in the jeep with my hubs, shoot my 9mm and clays with the shotgun and occassionally dress up and have a steak for dinner!
Other Information:
I love the LORD and he is awesome. He is the only thing that helps me through this amazing journey and he reaps the awards. This body is His temple and I have to do everything I can to keep it in tip-top shape to do his work!
