Looking forward to 2010 - I'm doing a half marathon in December 2009 so with that stepping stone I'd like to do a spring marathon. I still need to pick one out and figure out the training plain but that's what I'm looking foward. What are you looking forward to in 2010?

2009 - New Year, New Me, New Attitude
-- I've been waiting on my hystorectomy surgery for a few months (multiple hassles plus the holidays) so I've been in a motivational 'holding pattern'. One of my goal for 2009 is to lose another 25 lbs to get to 150lbs and then reassess my look and health. Another goal is to run a 5K and the World Wide Festival of Races - Kick the Couch. It will definitely be a couch to 5K since I'll be in recovery for a few weeks. Surgery is on Feb 2nd.

2/7/09: Surgery is done and I'm at home feeling pretty good. it's been 5 days since surgery so moving slowly is not too bad. I've been listen to my body going for mini-walks or just trying to take naps. Today is a nap day!

2008.. after a year of different struggles of being a widow alot of my changes are going pretty good. I have more 'up' days than 'down' days and I'm working on challenging myself to jog a 5k - see July 19th blog.

2007 was a difficult year, I became a widow on July 5th, 2007, and I'm really just getting back in gear. Overall I'm doing ok, except I'm not taking care of myself very well. Oh I eat and eat, a little sleep now and again, but that's about it. Time to see if I can get moving again.

First huge step in taking care of myself is to get Gastric Sleeve surgery. Feb 1st is my surgery (tomorrow as I type this) and I'm very excited about my new 'bod' to be. A new beginning!!

emoticon stopping by to see how you're doing. I'm still working on my goal as I won't quit.

I'm reading the BECK DIET SOLUTION, which isn't a "diet" but she teaches how to THINK like a THIN person. (Got a copy from the library.) I recommend it to everyone. (We have a support team here at Sparks.)
Walking for five minutes is better than walking for zero minutes. Exercise is essential even if I don't do very much at first. I can build up the amount that I do over time, but I have to start somewhere.
Hunger is never an emergency. It is only mildly uncomfortable. I can tolerate it. It will come and go.
I really do deserve credit for breaking old habits and it is essential for building my confidence. Once my confidence grows everything will become so much easier.
If I want to lose weight permanently, I can't make exceptions. I'd rather be thinner. I can't overeat on week-ends or any other time.
I have to develop the habit of eating every bite slowly, while sitting down, so I can fully enjoy it. It is worth developing this habit, so that I can have a lifetime of being thinner.
I'm not going to let any minor setback ruin everything I've accomplished. One mistake doesn't ruin my diet, but falling back into old habits will.
I will recommit to my diet right here, right now!
Exercise is not negotiable for good health. It needs to be a daily lifetime habit and I need to make it so. The hardest part is getting started. I'll feel so much better when I'm done. So get started!
OH WELL! I'm going to ignore this craving. I'm going to do something and let it subside. I'm turning my attention to something else, like exercise.
