Sorry it has taken me a while to reply. Busy week! I teach piano lessons, though I don't have the degree. Up until my senior year of high school I wanted to major in piano performance. And then I started thinking that it might not be a practical major, as in helping me achieve a steady income. I LOVE teaching piano, but now it's something I do on the side. I still practice about an hour a day. I'm going through a big Chopin phase right now. My favorite piece to play, though I can't do it well enough for it to be performance-ready, is his nocturne in c minor. I just discovered that one maybe six months ago and I absolutely love it! Who are your favorite composers, or what is your favorite style of music to play?

Favorite authors? Definitely Dickens and Victor Hugo. I love Les Miserables, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Great Expectations, A Tale of Two Cities. I love reading the classics. Dante's Inferno got me interested in teaching English. One book that isn't a classic that should be a classic, and one I could read twenty times and never get tired of, is Surrender by Sonya Hartnett. She has a very descriptive voice with a VERY careful eye on word choice. Each sentence reads beautifully, and she never slips into "sloppy writing" the whole way through. The story reads beautifully, and the plot and characters are just as interesting. She won recognition for this book, maybe a Pulitzer Prize? I can't remember. But definitely a very good read. What are your favorites?

I look forward to getting to know you! We can talk music, books, or weight loss any time! Have a great weekend!!

Thank you for adding me as a friend. I meant to sent a quick hello note when I originally friended you, but it has been a very busy weekend. We have a lot in common. I have played the piano since age five, so I seriously considered majoring in music - probably piano pedagogy or piano performance. I didn't see it as a practical major since teaching piano students is unreliable income, as opposed to teaching in a school (and I'm definitely not cut out to be a choir or band teacher), so I went with my other passion ... English education. I just graduated December 2009, so we are probably close to the same age with similar interests. So we can definitely talk about both music and literature a very long time! Definitely an ambitious choice to double major with one of the majors being music. I look forward to getting to know you. Wishing you a great start to a great week!

I think I might make one day on the weekend, be it saturday or sunday, a cheat day! Because that is when I am usually with friends! haha.

Anyways have a great day! emoticon
