Hi! My name is Kandace and I'm trying to make my life better in every way! Since joining SparkPeople I've been really feeling feeling better about my life overall! Losing a little weight and feeling more confident!! I'm in my 20s but at the most unhealthy point in my life that I've ever been. In high school I used to think my body wasn't good now I've gained over 80 pounds (if not more) and I'm wondering how it all happened. I want to lose weight but more importantly I want to embrace a healthy lifestyle. I used to run x-country and track and I want to get back there!

I'm also in the process of writing a dissertation. I've come to learn that graduate school has been directly related to my weight gain in the past five years, and I'm trying to approach the biggest point in my life (earning my doctoral degree) with less stress and better healthy habits. I really feel like I'm ready for a lifestyle change!

5/18/2009 236 (after achieving a loss later on, I realized this was mainly water weight and time of the month weight - phew.)

6/1/2009 231.1 (YAY! total 13.7 lbs lost!)
6/8/2009 233.6 (grrr... gain)
6/15/2009 232.3 (total 12.5lbs lost)
6/22/209 (no weigh in had to work on weigh in day)
6/29/2009 228.0 (WOW! total 16.8lbs lost!)
7/6/2009 230.4 (NO! I gained, why does this seem to happen every four weeks or so?!)

8/3/2009 (226.4) After a two week trip and no weigh-ins I totally lost weight! How did that happen? (total 18.4 lbs lost! The most I've reached so far!)
8/10/2009 (228.6) GAIN! Like I said, every four weeks or so. Oh well
In these weeks I pretty much hovered in the same loss and gain until 8/31/2009 when I weighed in at (224.4) exactly 20lbs lost!
9/7/2009 (next weigh in)

Goals: reach a total of 20 pounds lost by July 1 (this means averaging about 2lbs per week loss). Reward - new pair of earrings that I've been eying forever. UPDATE: It is July 7th and I did not make this goal, I wanted to so badly, it seems like I just can't get to the 20 pound point though, seeming like this is kind of hard, I want to make it to my goals which I thought were realistic, but now I need to re-evaluate I'm hoping to reach this mark by August 1st - I'm doing some traveling and I know this will be hard but I will and I can do this. UPDATE: I still did not make that 20lb goal by the first but I'm happy with my body and feeling good in knowing it's working hard to make a better me. I'm hoping by August 17th to have crossed that 20lb barrier, that will feel so awesome!

Reach a total of 40 pounds lost by October 31st. Reward- new work out clothes.

My Goals:
I want to reach my weight loss goal of (at least) 60lbs.

I want to not gain any further weight.

I want to improve my health overall.

I want to drink more water.

I want to be able to deal with stress better.

My Program:
I am keeping track of my calories with SP Nutrition tracker!

I will go to the gym and do 30 minutes of cardio and strength training at least three days a week.

I will try to take my dog for a walk on the days I don't go to the gym (weather permitting).

I will drink more water and eat less chocolate!

Personal Information:
Currently live in Minneapolis, MN, I'm originally from the SW, but I'm loving it here for now.
