So now I am 51 years old and back at this again. Sick and tired of being sick and tired, literally. All this weight is ruining my health and zapping my energy. I have a 5 year old granddaughter living with me now and I want to be able to keep up with her and show her healthy ways of living. I can do that by doing it myself. Today she asked me how I got so fat. I told her by eating too much and not exercising.

I have been at this for 6 weeks now. I have the app on my android and it sure helps me to stay on track.

I am doing this!

My Goals:
To keep from becoming diabetic. have a healthy heart. Be able to keep up with my 2 wonderful grandchildren and create beautiful memories.
To wear a size 24 pants by 12/15/12.
Met that goal. 12/26/12

To lose 5% of my body weight by 1/09/13.
This would put me below the 300 mark and I haven't been there for a year and a half.
Met this goal 1/9/13! 5.2% of my body wieght and 299.0 lbs. So grateful.

To lose another 5% through the 13 lbs in 13 weeks challenge. 3/31/13

To track my food every day. This has helped more than any other thing in this journey. When I don't track I eat very bad!

My Program:
I am tracking everything that goes into my mouth everyday and learning about how to eat healthy. I work out at least 4 days a week and walk most everyday. i drink LOTS of water.

I get to have a personal trainer out work set me up a work out plan that includes 4 days a week at the gym and 2 days at home.

Personal Information:
I live in Joplin MO. My 5 year old granddaughter lives with me. I am more active now than I have been in a while and I want that to just keep growing while I am shrinking.

Other Information:
I love to read. I am on Facebook when I can be. I love Sons of Anarchy. I love to be in the water!

    Thank you for your kind words. It makes me feel good to be able to inspire someone! If I can lose 65 pounds, you can. I never thought I'd be able to lose that much. I have learned so much being part of Sparkpeople. 2 things I would strongly recommend. 1. Be as consistent as possible with your food journaling-good and bad. You learn what works and what doesn't. and 2. Drink lots of water.
    There are a lot of other things, but I think those are the 2 most important. If there is anything I can do to help you, let me know. Good luck!

    SHOYER, I added the app to my phone. I bought it from for 2.99 and it was well worth it. The secret for me is, that if I don't track it then I dont eat well. I have found that if I track every single thing then I see a pattern, and even the so-called "bad things" I eat I can manage to save the day, if I just know what I am working with. This has been the best thing ever for my eating. I would like to lose faster but it is those dang high carb, high fat foods I love that get me. Progress not perfection!
