To start from the beginning my childhood was rough & I confided in food. Around 2005, shortly after graduating high school, I threw away all my 'hopes, dreams & wants' to be "thin" and decided what I really wanted at 329lbs. was to be able to MOVE. I wanted to be able to use my body efficiently & be the healthy, active, 18th century-body-style woman I saw myself as. I needed to match my outside with the happiness I felt for myself & life on the inside. So, in 2 years of gradual, self-motivated work on reforming my eating & exercising habits, I lost 110lbs. I was living an amazingly energetic, vegetarian lifestyle, running 2-3 days a week regularly, to keep my weight maintained. Then 2011-12 I experienced a year of great loss, two of my friends & my cat passed, but I also met my husband. He's helped me through the toughest time I've ever experienced in my life, dealing with my now very intense chronic pain & various other medical conditions. His support, love, tolerance for my mental illness (depression/bi-polar) has been something I could've never asked of anyone, but I truly needed him and he came along when I needed him most. I'm re-learning myself & skills I've mastered & lost after mourning for so long. Life is like riding a bicycle & sometimes falling off and hurting beyond belief helps us reset & get rid of things in life that weren't helping. I'm consciously trying to exercise my thankfulness, awareness & healthy mental/physical behaviors. We spent a lot of time on the couch last winter & I'm ready to get back to me. Its important I lose the weight again because my back is deteriorating & my health problems keep piling up. I need to help my body as much as possible. I've gotten out of the self-destructive mode of mourning & depression, its time to take the next step.

Last year(2012) we had the first garden either of us ever got to enjoy. I spent a lot of my time planning it, growing them all from seed, & working the weedy, but healthy soil. The whole thing turned out amazing, we had many harvests and fed ourselves through the summer. I made many vegetarian lasagnes, zucchini breads, etc. lots-o-tomatoes, which are my favorite. We hope to do the same again this year, but better.
