Hi, my name is Kristin. I'm 25 from Columbus, Ohio. I have been on the Spark site for a little over a year now, but never really made the committment to myself to change my lifestyle. I finally got over the mental attitude that I wanted to "diet" and have accepted this is a lifestyle I want to live instead. Over the past few months I have become very interested in nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. I want to be happy with a weight that is comfortable for me (I'm 5'3). I want to find a happy balance between fitness and other priorities in life. Over the past year I have been (painfully) studying to pass the Certified Public Accountants exam, but studying consumed so much of my free time I would put it on the back burner to work out. The working out make me feel guilty so I would stop doing that to study, only finding myself not really accomplishing anything.

I finally decided to immerse myself within the Spark Community (hence the reason I am finally getting a start on this webpage) looking for friends who will motivate me and hold me accountable along the way. I think sometimes I would be afraid to make my goals and ambitions 'public' that way I would be the only person to know if they did or didn't work out, but I need to be more accountable.

This past month I have lost almost 5 pounds and I have 12.5 more to go. I set a goal date of accomplishing this by 5/31/09. I keep track of everything I eat in Excel and my workouts too, it's so much easier for me to use that based on my own nutrition information. My other goal is to run a 5K. This is coming from a girl who hated the thought of running and associated it with punishment (as my last memories from volleyball in highschool). I started the C25K program with little expectations. The other day I ran TWO miles non stop. Completely unheard of. I am learning that I have unlimited possibilities and it's only up to myself to see what I am capable of accomplishing in life.

Thanks for the comment! You should run a half...you can do it! I'd like to do another one and improve my time. Let me know if you ever want to run one of the many races Columbus has to offer. I know there is an Irish Festival 4 Miler in Dublin on July 30th. Could be fun!

I hope you have a fabulous 4th of July weekend!
