In celebration of a Quarter Century of life, I'd like to lose 25 pounds in 2008.

A lot of the motivational articles here on SparkPeople suggest that you develop a mantra to keep yourself going when your energy starts to run low.

I mostly need something like this to push through some of the more monotonous cardio (elliptical when not in fitness classes). Any suggestions?

I was thinking, "That feeling? Yeah, that's the fat slowly burning off your ass," but that may not quite as positive as it could be. It's worked the past couple of days, though.

Fitness Minutes: 2,845

My Goals:
In 2008, I would like to:

1) Lose 25 pounds;
2) Eat better;
3) Learn to salsa and merengue;
4) Compete in my first 5K in 10 years.


My Program:
My current plan:

Strength training 3x a week (BodyPump);

Cardio 5x a week, 45 minutes at a time (elliptical, stationary bike, cardio kickboxing class);

Yoga or Pilates, 2x a week.



Personal Information:
I was an athlete in high school - runner, avid ice hockey player. I stayed active in college, but gained a few pounds along with everyone else.

Then came the first real job - as in inside salesperson, where we were fed free, fatty lunches 3x a week by vendors. Still feeling like a college student, I definitely didn't say no to the free food.

In no time flat, I gained 15 more pounds, putting me at 155. My weight has fluctuated between 140 and 155 ever since, and I'm a yo-yo exerciser - I'll make it to the gym for 3 months straight, then fall off the wagon for 2 months after extensive business travel, getting sick, or some other event.

I'm a great believer in luck and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.

    Those damn vendors. My first real job was assistant buyer and I gained a good 10-15 pounds too. You will find that Spark is a great place to lose the weight and keep it off. Every restaurant has nutritional info on their websites, I learned that if you do your homework, you'll always have a better day! :-)
