*This is it. This is the last time I will set these goals and the first time I will actually complete them all the way.*

I set that goal a few years ago, but didn't get serious about it until April 2010 when my bathroom scale tipped 272 lbs!! I was appalled and embarrassed. I looked at pictures and cried. I never wanted to leave the house and I wouldn't dare do anything fun with the kids. I was very, very sad. I second guessed friendships and lacked confidence to stand up for myself in areas where I'd needed to for years. Something HAD to change!

I began my journey this year by saying "ENOUGH!!" and putting my fork down. I decided to take one day at a time and make healthy choices. Most of us know what those choices are-even if we say we don't and when we make excuses for why the weight "just won't go away". I decided to make those changes.

I got back on Sparkpeople and set my new goals. I tracked EVERYTHING religiously. It was like Sparkpeople was my little angel on my shoulder.

I ate clean: limited sugary, processed foods and fats. I ate lean meats, vegetables and limited starchy things. About once a week I would treat myself to a sweet treat or craved item, but I always stayed within my calorie range.

Then, I made a pact with myself that 5-6 days a week I would only HAVE to do 20 minutes of walking. I could do more if I felt like it, but I HAD to do 20 minutes. I had a treadmill in our basement and I was too embarrassed to go outside in our neighborhood. So, I started down there. I only walked 3.5 mph the first month. But, I almost always did at least 30 minutes. I really would've let myself off the hook after 20, but once I got started, I felt better and would keep going.

I started running a minute and walking 2-3 minutes. Then, I slowly moved down to run one, walk one. Later I was able to move forward to run 2, walk 1 and so on.

After about 2.5 months I had lost 30 lbs. My neighbor was training for a marathon and said she would go easy on me if I would run with her on her short runs. OUTSIDE! I was terrified. I still felt "fat" and was extremely self conscious of it. But, I did it. I went with her and have only been back on the treadmill a few times.

So, now I'm averaging about 20 miles per week jogging. I still take 30 second walk breaks throughout my longer runs, but I have improved SO much.

Today, I weigh 196 lbs. I have been at a standstill because we moved during December and then also travelled a lot for the holidays so I didn't always find time to exercise and my eating was very hard to keep track of. I am thankful though that I did NOT gain weight!

**UPDATE-May 2012**
Well, last year I accomplished my goal of running a half marathon. I did the OKC Memorial Half and LOVED it! However, I injured my knee really badly and had to take a rest for a couple months. I did not do well at eating and alternative exercising. My knee started getting better and then my dad got sick and we've had to move him close to us to care for him.

It's been a very stressful 7 months and I let it get the best of me and gained back about 50 of the 80 lbs I had lost. Now I'm trying to get back on track! I have 75 lbs to lose to reach my final maintenance goal.

I am back to training for a half marathon in October. I'd love to reach my goal by then! Cheer me on!

My Goals:
I have 3 main goals:

* I want to be healthy through Bible Study, diet & exercise which will make me feel better & make me a much better wife & mother.

*I would like to lose 75 lbs by October 21st 2012 in time to walk/run the St. Louis Rock N Roll Half Marathon.

*I would greatly like to motivate and help others in their journey. I have 4 children + 2 foster children and I was 110 lbs overweight when I started this journey 2 yrs ago. I know what it's like to have a lot on my plate but also to make excuses for several years. I want to help people get through that to the other side.

My Program:
I eat 5-6 small, balanced meals a day. Balanced meaning a balance of protein and carbs but also lower in calories. I try to keep each meal to around 300-350 calories.

I walk/run 20-25 miles per week.

Personal Information:
I am from Oklahoma, but married my Army man and we have lived in a few places in the US.
We have been married almost 16 years and We have 4 wonderful children. Presently, we also have 2 foster children in our home for a total of SIX children! Our home is messy and loud and we are learning to love it that way!
