Thanks for your comment on my blog about intensity. Hiking is my newest obsession (er - I mean hobby LOL). I'm going to do a blog in a day or two about the three week trip we took out west where we hiked in Sedona, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Arches National Park, Canyonland, and Yellowstone. Long story short, in the past we'd visited several of them but my fear of heights made me avoid most of the hikes. This time I was DETERMINED to overcome that fear - and I DID! The fact that I've been walking 7 to 11 miles a day at least 5 days a week for over a year so was very fit surely helped, but mostly I think this time my DESIRE to do it overcame my fear!!

I like 60 miles southwest of Atlanta and I know there must be lots of hiking trails both here in Georgia and in the Smokies just up the road. DH and I are already talking about doing more hiking - we are retired now so have the luxury of TIME!! Hence my need for training - and thanks for letting me know it works both ways - that hiking can improve my walks!! I suspected as much when that hilly loop seemed easier than the last time I did it - I think even two weeks of hiking has improved my fitness!! emoticon ps - if you'd like to take a look at the Mixbook photo book my hubby did (just finished yesterday) about our trip just let me know and I'll send you a link!!

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I should have written what you said myself! I'd just finished reading all of these blogs about insecurities, childhood baggage, finding religion and such. I was beginning to wonder where on earth I was! Just needed to get it off my chest.

Glad to hear from someone else who's just working hard at losing weight that was gained simply because of overeating and underexercising! Congratulations on your successful weight loss. Seeing THAT is what I need for inspiration!

Yup, wrote it early this AM so maybe it was yesterday somewhere in the world :).. Great point.
    Thanks

DO you blog? Blogging is a great way to get your feelings down on paper. Others like to read them and offer insight along the way. ? It can be fun and makes you more accountable. At least it does me. I just posted over 300 blogs last year. Only missed a few days. It can be funny, tell us about your day, good or bad, about how your food choices went, what you did for exercise, stuff like that. Does not have to be weight related all the time. Just things you are thinking about, questions you might have.

Give it a try, you just might enjoy it. Look forward to seeing one from you.

Thanks for your comments to my blog, what you say is absolutely so true! Last night, my doctor said I'm like a pail with a bunch of holes in it -- I'm leaking out everywhere. lol That's what I've been feeling like. It comes from being so involved in everyone else that I forget to be involved with ME. I guess somewhere along the line I learned that taking care of myself is selfish, but I'm discovering that it's definitely not. I'm no good to anyone if I'm full of holes! lol emoticon emoticon

Thank you so much for your comments on my blog about trying to help my mother-in-law. She decided almost two weeks ago to go into home hospice care because she was diagnosed with renal failure. (My husband and his younger brother were able to persuade her to go to the hospital to get evaluated.) She decided she did not want to prolong her life in a painful way. She died this morning. My younger brother-in-law was with her. She died with courage. I'm sure she's already connected with her husband and is hollering at him about his choice of cloud color!
