Hello and thanks for stopping by. After years of ignoring my health and the ever-creeping weight gain, I decided enough was enough. No more telling myself that I was fine the way I was or that I'd lose the weight next year (or the year after that).

I joined Spark in January 2010 and combined with walking and a low-carb diet, went down 23 pounds, as well as several inches. I haven't regained the weight, but over time I lost my motivation and went back to eating as before.

I started walking again in June 2012 without changing my eating plan. My legs got firmer, I had more stamina, but the weight didn't budge. At the doctor's office, my blood work came back slightly lower than before, but still too high. That was enough to motivate me.

I'm more determined than ever to succeed. I have to be tough on myself but also positive that this time I can make it all the way to my destination. No detours, rest stops or excuses.

I plan to blog about my eating/get healthy plan as honestly as I can, including failures and successes. I know we're all different but I would like to share my journey so you may benefit from my experience, and I in turn by reading about yours. Together we can do this! :)

My Goals:
To lose weight and lower my blood work results in 6 months time (03/13)

First Marker: To get under 200 lbs by end of December.


My Program:
I'm on a low-carb eating plan. I go to the gym 5x a week and take Zumba, Yoga, Aquafit and Pilates classes. It seems like a lot but I have energy to spare. I meet my trainer once a week. He's great, if a bit relentless. I walk everywhere, including to and from the gym - a minimum of 30 minutes per day. I'm starting to incorporate weights into my routine. I'm new at it, and it still intimidates me, but already I can feel my arms getting stronger.



Personal Information:
I live in London with my husband, daughter, and kitty cats. In a previous life I was very active, roller skating, biking, swimming and dancing. 20 plus years later, that's all changed, but I aim to recover some of that vigour. Who says it can't be done?


Other Information:
I love reading books, watching films, traveling and cooking shows. I have recruited my family into my health makeover. It's great to have them along for support. I find that sharing my experience makes me more accountable.
