Introduction Text 3/9/14 -- After packing on the pounds, I have finally found some answers! I have learned a lot about hormone levels affecting my weight, health, etc. I've posted a blog with my story, but hope I am on the right track! 1/5/14 -- I started packing on pounds about 8 months ago after maintaining my weight loss for 4 years. It is SOOO frustrating! I had some major life changes (lost my mom, started a new job, lost a part-time job) but my eating and exercise didn't change much, so I'm thinking it is mostly related to age and hormones. I am trying to stick to the basic Spark plan with a few modifications. I've been having some health issues (many resulting from "chronic inflammation"), so trying to weed out foods that I could have sensitivities to (gluten as my primary focus). So frustrating to be back in this position of practically starting over! 6/9/09 -- I'm nearing a milestone birthday and the pounds no longer come off like they used to. I have done low-carb dieting successfully in the past, but can't seem to get results now. I have a number of health issues that I'm hoping can be improved by weight loss.

I am in constant pain with fibromyalgia and arthritis issues. I've had a joint replacement in my foot that bothers me all the time. My hope is that losing some weight will help me hurt less and feel better about myself.

July 2009 - I have been using SparkPeople for a month now -- tracking my food, drinking water, and following the exercise recommendations. What a great motivator! I feel like the foods are healthy and for the first time I've been able to get through a day without a soda.

I'm from northern Illinois where I live with my husband, 2 adult sons, and an extra kid or two we've taken in. I absolutely love animals and have taken in all kinds of rescues.

I currently have a Rocky Mountain horse (Midnight Rose) and a number of cats and dogs. Samson is the sweetest Rottweiler in the world, Riley is a total clown shih tzu, and Bailey (the psycho min-pin!). We have 2 geriatric cats (Blackjack and Rocky), as well as two rescues (Tigger and Mini) and Laila the foo-foo Himalayan.
