Hey there... from Texas,

I have been with SP for a few years but really got a jump-start from swimsuit bootcamp. I hit the half-century mark age-wise this past April (08), and I want to keep my body from deteriorating. I also want my family to become more atuned to health and fitness...even if it is by osmosis.

SP has the best videos and exercises to fit in anytime. You don't have to waste time with traveling to a gym, and you can split your workouts in any way that works. What a deal!

Now that our family has been working out on the Wii Fit, our home has become an even better gym. I can't wait until they come out with something else similar to Wii Fit.

I have been discovering so much more on Spark. I have the Spark page as part of my home page which helps me build my days closer to a healthy lifetyle.

Fitness Minutes: 5,471

My Goals:
My goals are to use portion control, develop food constraint at buffet-style or potluck meaks, to maintain daily exercise even if it is not substantial, and to eat a healthy diet in spite what my family eats.

My Program:
Breakfast and lunch on my own are small portions of healthy food, when I work out I use weights and use SP videos. I am working on drinking enough water, and I constantly look for red meat substitutions.

Personal Information:
I am originally from El Paso (desert Southwest) but right now my husband, kids, and I are stuck living in a suburb of Houston. My brothers, sisters, and mom are spead from Illinois, El Paso, and California.

Other Information:
At a high school assembly, I remember seeing a 60-year-old woman walking on her hands, and I told myself I wanted to be in that shape when I was that age.

    Hey there ME AGAIN, just doing my weekly check in to see how it is going for you. I didn't have a great week but I am plugging along. Someone said I was losing weight so I will have to take their word for it. I haven't measured or weighed myself for awile. The nice weather is coming and I am sure that will be a pick me up for all of us. I know it will be for me for sure I hate feeling cold all the time. I just want to stay in and stay warm.     For this weeks message I am sending you to read different sparkpeople articles. They are just too long I think to put on everyone's pages. I strongly recommend them. One is on the blog entry site and it is DIETGIRLS 20 top tips. It is a great read the other one is De-stress in 3 minutes or less it is by Dean and it is in the Healthy lifestyle section. I know we all have good and bad days, weeks and months. Deans article was so on time it stated exactly what I did last night. I have a challenge not to eat after 8:30 and I did GREAT the last two weeks. Last night while cleaning up after dinner I automatically put a perogie in my mouth no biggie really I was at the lower range of my guidelines anyway. It was what came next I said to my husband well now I might as well have some chocolate you know the thinking I blew so just really blow it!!!! So I ate another perogie, some chicken and 4 chocolates. I was only over my calorie limit by 31 BUT that 31 was way more calories than I needed and I wasn't really hungry. It doesn't take much to throw us off track. Dean's article will help you see and think before you sabotage yourself. Have a great week and I will be back next week.

    Can't eat beef, Mad cow....
    Can't eat chicken . bird flu
    Can't eat eggs .. Salmonella
    Can't eat pork .. fears of trichinosis...
    Can't eat fish .. heavy metals in the waters has poisoned their meat
    Can't eat fruits and veggies . .insecticides and herbicides

    emoticon Its almost March already…can you believe it? Two months into the New Year but this year has brought me much change. It took me a while, but I have my motto now: “THINGS ARE LOOKING FINE FOR 2009”!
    emoticon I’ve changed my whole diet and my hubby is profiting from the healthy diet as well. Now, our son, who said he’d never be able to do it, is also eating healthy now! My latest struggle is portion control and eating the right amounts of the foods that I should be eating. I’m trying to remember to eat 3 or more fruit servings a day…sometimes the day gets by me and I have only consumed 2 portions. My son gave me a bread maker for my Birthday and so I’m making healthy whole grain breads nearly everyday…so that’s a plus. I am able to get my 8 small portions or 4 regular portions of grains now. I’m getting plenty of protein and I’m eating way more veggies than I ever thought possible now too. So our diet has improved about 100%. We don’t eat any fast foods or drink any soda pop anymore either and it’s not as hard as we thought it would be to give up the junk. I don’t even want that kind of thing anymore.
